ICF seeks a Communications Associate, Media Relations to work with public health and security projects that support the planning, development and implementation of communications activities for federal agencies. We help our clients develop messaging and resources to support a range of high-profile issues, including those struggling with mental health and substance use challenges.
The qualified candidate will be responsible for researching media coverage reports, media outlet/reporter lists and information for communications deliverables such as pitch packages.
This position requires the successful candidate reside and complete all work within the continental United States due to contract requirements.
As a Communications Associate, Media Relations, you will:
  • Monitor relevant news and develop daily and weekly client reports utilizing advanced PR tools.
  • Conduct research and provide support in developing communications and media relations products, including pitch packages, op-eds, media advisories, talking points and presentations, speeches, situational reports, and QAs.
  • Assist in developing media pitches and identify opportunities for outreach based on the news cycle.
  • Develop and update custom media lists to support outlet types or project needs.
  • Manage multiple deliverables at once with varying deadlines using collaboration tools, such as Trello, SharePoint, Excel, SmartSheets, etc.
  • Other activities as assigned by manager and as requested by the client.
As a Communications Associate, Media Relations, you will have:
Basic Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree is required (e.g., communications, marketing, public relations, or advertising)
  • 1+ year of communications, media relations, and/or client services experience, preferably in a government environment.
  • Ability to obtain a government security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of communications, media relations, and/or client services experience, preferably in a government environment.
  • Federal and/or Agency experience is preferred.
  • Understanding of PR tools, such as Critical Mention and Muck Rack.
  • Ability to produce high-quality, well-written materials under deadline.
  • Excellent professional writing skills and research abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; proactive, solution-oriented and can-do mindset.
  • Knowledge of the digital media environment.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:
$52,488.00 - $89,230.00
