Summary
The position is located in the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL/EX). The bureau works to keep Americans safe at home by countering international crime, illegal drugs, and instability abroad. This position assists INL program officers with foreign assistance program development in support of U.S. foreign policy objectives.
Duties
Serves as a point of contact for incoming actions regarding the assignment from Departmental offices, U.S. embassies/posts, other U.S. government (USG) agencies, international organizations and foreign governments.
Assists in developing policy recommendations on highly controversial and politically sensitive U.S. positions, and providing guidance and coordination related to the full range of counternarcotics and anti-crime areas.
Monitors political, economic, social, and other significant developments and trends in order to facilitate efforts to implement foreign assistance programs in order to achieve U.S. foreign policy objectives as assigned.
Advises on issues and problems; develops and proposes resolutions of policy and procedural issues and coordinates implementation of policy decisions.
At the GS-9 level, the incumbent performs essentially the same duties as outlined above; however, the scope and complexity of assignments are of less responsibility and independence and receives closer than normal supervision.
