Position: Digital Organizing Program Manager (Megaphone Program Manager)

Comms2 seeks a Digital Organizing Program Manager who will join our new and growing Campaigns Department and play a central role in the day-to-day management of the Pennsylvania Megaphone program. This role will manage a team of organizers who will be responsible for cultivating relationships with and building a community of storytellers, content creators, validators, and citizen amplifiers who will collaborate to create and amplify content and utilize the Megaphone App to share aligned content from Comms2 and content partners. 


Core Responsibilities

  • Managing a team of organizers who will support the day-to-day operations and success of the Megaphone program, including assisting in the hiring and onboarding process. 
  • Work with the Senior Director of Campaigns to set goals and agenda for the Megaphone storyteller program, content and message development, and growth of our base of creators, amplifiers, storytellers, and partners. 
  • Coordinate with the Digital, Communications, and Organizing teams at Comms2 to integrate Megaphone programming across all departments in ways that support the program’s strategic objectives.
  • Develop and execute moderation guidelines to cultivate activity and community-building in our volunteer and storyteller channels (Facebook Group, Slack channel, email list)
  • Facilitate the onboarding of stakeholders and volunteers and train them on how to use the Megaphone app that is central to our content distribution strategy.
  • Manage the creation of Megaphone’s organizing infrastructure, such as landing pages, onboarding, and training materials, digital organizing.


Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of digital or traditional organizing experience (one or both) and an understanding of effective organizing models.
  • Experience managing a team is strongly desired. 
  • Experience moderating online communities is strongly desired.
  • Experience in content creation or platform management is a plus.
  • This individual is someone who can work effectively among a diverse coalition of organizations, stakeholders, and volunteers.

Commonwealth Communications (Comms2) serves as the communications and digital hub of Pennsylvania’s progressive, public interest, and pro-democracy community. Comms2 writes and produces content for progressive organizations, organic distribution and paid media, coordinates communications with partners and allied stakeholders, and monitors and develops strategies and tactics to best navigate the ever-changing digital and narrative landscape.


Comms2 helps shape the political environment for the public interest of Pennsylvania by centralizing institutional knowledge in a dynamic communications organization. The organization collaborates in filling the needs of partners’ priorities, coalitions, and independent campaigns throughout the Commonwealth.


Comms2 is the ProgressNow affiliate for Pennsylvania with a focus on fostering collaboration and alignment among in-state partners and major national organizations.


Description of Megaphone Program Objectives

Megaphone is a collaboration among state-based communications organizing groups to build an organic progressive media ecosystem to drown out the conservative echo chamber that churns out narratives and spreads disinformation through social media, damaging our democracy. 


Pennsylvania’s Megaphone will empower our local partners, organizers, and everyday Pennsylvanians with the skills and opportunities they need to tell their stories through compelling online content showcasing the work of progressive protagonists on the ground in our Commonwealth who make our democracy strong and vibrant. 


Comms2 seeks to build an amplification network that empowers storytellers, validators, digital organizers, and amplifiers to drown out the right-wing echo chamber threatening our democracy and win the narrative in Pennsylvania for the common good and shared goals of the progressive movement. 


Salary, Benefits, and Diversity

Salary is commensurate with experience. The range is between $70,000 - $80,000. Benefits include health care coverage, including vision and dental, technology and travel reimbursement, and paid time off.
