Summary

This position is located in the Executive Office of the President (EOP), Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), Office of Translational Research (OTR). The Assistant Director is the principal advisor ensuring that the latest evidence and data is driving policy-making across the Federal government, and overseeing management and execution of all activities within OTR, including technical and managerial efforts related to staff and contractors/consultants supporting the office.


Duties

As the Assistant Director for the Office of Translational Research, some of your typical work assignments will include:


Serving as the senior representative for OTR in the formulation of policy-making, the development of the National Drug Control Strategy, the development of the Performance Reporting System which tracks whole-of-government progress on drug policy, the guidance on the National Drug Control Budget, and other supporting documents.

Serving as the Emerging Threats Coordinator, and through that role provides recommendations on emerging threats declarations that incorporate the latest available data and information from public health and public safety experts on drug use and drug trafficking trends to the Emerging Threats Committee and senior leadership at ONDCP.

Providing research and data guidance on the development of talking points, speeches, internal and external policy documents. Representing ONDCP at meetings, forums, conferences, and interactions with relevant stakeholders from the data, science, research, and other communities as necessary. Oversees policy working groups as assigned.

Building cross component collaboration, specifically by providing extensive research and data support including modelling various data to staff working on public health, public safety, international, intelligence, criminal justice, budget, and external affairs projects.
