Summary
This position is organizationally located in the Immediate Office of the Administrator, National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). The primary purpose of the position, as NNSA General Counsel, is to provide legal services, counsel, and support to the NNSA and its subordinate elements, and to represent the NNSA as Counsel before Federal, State, and other government agencies.

Responsibilities
Serves as the NNSA General Counsel, the chief law officer of the NNSA. Provides counsel to the Administrator and senior NNSA officials, and ensures the provision of legal support and services to NNSA's program areas.
Advises the Administrator, NNSA, and other top staff members with respect to legal implications of matters related to the implementation and discharge of NNSA responsibilities.Participates in formulation of policies and procedures governing the discharge of the functions of the NNSA.
Interprets provisions of basic legislation,amendments thereto, agreements predicted thereon, executive orders, delegations, directives, regulations, and other documents of a legal nature applicable to the operations and administration of NNSA; in general, is affirmatively responsible for assuring that NNSA programs are administered within legislative requirements and in accordance with NNSA policies.
Consistent with NNSA policy, works with Congressional committees and Members of Congress on substantive matters and represents NNSA as an official and as counsel to NNSA officials in committee hearings. Represents and speaks for the Administrator when necessary.
Participates in the formulation, revision, and implementation of legal policies, procedures, and other practices governing the operations of the NNSA, including working directly with the Department's General Counsel on legal questions raised by these responsibilities.
