Position Overview:
The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for managing the financial operations of Resilient Strategies and our partner organizations ensuring financial health and sustainability. This CFO will lead RS’ Finance Team and oversee all financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and compliance requirements.
We are seeking a financial executive with strong management and communication skills, and a successful track record of leading teams and improving systems. The successful candidate will bring a passion and commitment to Resilient Strategies mission and core values and be a thought leader in how finance, accounting, and reporting systems can best support nonprofit organizations and fiscal sponsors.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Financial Management: Manage financial operations for Resilient Strategies, three fiscal sponsors, and all fiscally sponsored projects in our network. Ensure that the financial transactions, policies, and procedures meet Resilient Strategies business objectives and are conducted in accordance with regulations, accounting principles, and standards.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement Resilient Strategies’ financial strategy including long-term financial planning and forecasting, risk management, and investment strategies. Lead a systems audit and implement sound fiscal policies, systems, and procedures.
- Compliance: Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions. This includes tax planning and compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations including tracking of lobbying, primary and secondary purpose activities, etc.
- Leadership and Supervision: Lead the RS Finance team, including direct supervision, and hold responsibility for the functions of the department and finance staff.
Required Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, preferably experience with both non-profit and for-profit financial management
- Proven track record of successful financial management, including experience developing and implementing financial strategies, managing budgets, and overseeing financial reporting and compliance
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience building and leading high-performing teams
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders
Work Environment / Physical Demands
This position will work out of Oakland; Hybrid work schedule of 2 days in-person / 3 days work from home; open to remote placement for folks who can travel to the bay area regularly (4 times per year). Must be able to work on a computer including sitting at a desk for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation; manual dexterity to operate a keyboard; able to see or read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; able to speak clearly and in audible tones on the phone and in-person and be understood by others; able to hear and understand speech, including on the phone; able to understand and follow oral and written instructions; able to occasionally lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds, etc.

Salary and Benefits: This position is full-time and exempt, and has an estimated annual salary of $73,500 - $95,500. We offer a competitive health benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, and a generous paid time off schedule.
