FAST is the leading patient advocacy organization working to cure Angelman syndrome. As the largest non-governmental funder of Angelman syndrome research in the world, our goal is to drive forward transformative research and development programs as quickly as possible for those living with Angelman syndrome — regardless of age or genotype. FAST is an international organization with a national funding base.
Position Summary:
The Community Fundraising Manager (peer-to-peer) will drive our community-based fundraising efforts in support of our mission to advance research and find cures for Angelman syndrome. We need a go-getter—someone who thrives on mobilizing communities, building relationships and creating new opportunities where only a few exist. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, results-oriented professional with a track record of successful peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns and community engagement. This role will focus on guiding, cultivating and empowering supporters, optimizing and maintaining our peer-to-peer platforms, and expanding our community fundraising reach nationwide.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Community Building, Relationship Management, and Supporter Engagement:
- Recruit, mentor and inspire fundraisers, champions, and volunteers who want to support FAST, providing them with the tools and resources needed to succeed.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with fundraisers, acting as a main point of contact for all community fundraising efforts.
- Provide onsite support at key fundraising events.
- Work with members across the organization to develop engaging content (emails, toolkits, guides) to keep fundraisers informed and connected to the cause.
Strategy and Campaign Development:
- Help build and implement a comprehensive peer-to-peer (P2P) fundraising strategy to engage supporters, grow the community, and increase revenue.
- Create annual P2P fundraising goals in collaboration with the CPO and align campaign plans to meet or exceed revenue targets.
- Assist community members in the design, launch, and management of digital and in-person fundraising campaigns, including DIY and virtual fundraisers.
- Evaluate the potential for athletic fundraising opportunities; marathon, half marathons and 5K’s to increase awareness and revenue for Angelman syndrome.
Platform and Data Management:
- Manage FAST’s peer-to-peer fundraising platform (Classy), ensuring a user-friendly experience.
- Oversee the setup and optimization of campaign pages, including design, messaging, and functionality.
- Track and analyze data to measure success and continuously improve P2P campaigns, creating reports to communicate progress to leadership and stakeholders.
Collaboration and Cross-Functional Support:
- Work closely with the strategic communications team to align messaging, increase visibility of P2P campaigns, and promote fundraisers’ stories.
- Collaborate with the philanthropy team to identify and cultivate relationships with high-potential fundraisers for deeper engagement.
- Partner with advocacy to enhance community involvement in FAST initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing or a related field.
- 3 +years of experience in peer-to-peer fundraising, community engagement, or related roles in the nonprofit sector, with a proven track record of achieving revenue targets.
- Demonstrated success in planning, executing, and optimizing multi-channel fundraising campaigns, including digital and grassroots efforts.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and empower community members to reach fundraising goals.
- Proficiency in peer-to-peer fundraising platforms (Classy/ GoFundMe) and CRM databases (Virtuous); experience with data analysis and reporting tools is a plus.
- Passion for and a commitment to making a difference for impacted individuals and families.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Role requires approximately 20% travel, including occasional weekend and evening work
- Must have a valid driver’s license
