Physicians for Social Responsibility–Los Angeles (PSR-LA) works to protect public

health from nuclear and environmental threats and to address health disparities

through policy and community engagement. Our energy justice program aims

to decarbonize, detoxify, and democratize climate policy in ways that center

equity and public health.

Position Overview

We’re seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Energy JusticeAssociate to join

our team. This role is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of

environmental justice, public health, and policy advocacy. You will support

local and state efforts to advance transformative clean energy and building

decarbonization policies, engage in coalition work, and help educate and

empower communities.

Key Responsibilities:

Policy & Advocacy

• Track and analyze regulatory and legislative energy justice developments.
• Engage with agencies like CPUC, CEC, and CARB.
• Coordinate policy advocacy within coalitions such as BEEP and LARHH.
• Draft policy briefs, public comments, and advocacy materials.

Collaborate with elected officials, agency staff, and community groups.

Community Engagement & Education

• Develop and host workshops on energy justice and just transition

strategies.

• Produce community education materials.
• Represent PSR-LA at public meetings and coalition events.

• Support community-led research and advocacy initiative

Internal Strategy & Support

• Participate in internal planning and strategy development.
• Contribute to grant writing and fundraising efforts.
• Help track coalition activities and program impact.

Qualifications

• Passion for public health, environmental, racial, and social justice.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 2–3 years of experience in energy policy, planning, or related fields.
• Skilled in writing, research, facilitation, and collaboration.
• Experience working with communities of color and grassroots partners.

Employment Status: Full-Time Employee

Location: (Hybrid) The position is based in Los Angeles, CA and staff are required to be

in office twice a week.

Compensation: Salary ranging from $68,000 - $74,000 based on experience. PSR-LA

offers a robust benefits package that includes: 100% employer-paid platinum

healthcare, dental, vision, chiropractic, and acupuncture for employees, spouses, and

dependents. We have 13 paid holidays, 10+ days paid days off at the end of the year

in addition to 2 weeks PTO. We offer professional development, a $100 a month internet

stipend, and a one-time $500 home office set-up stipend.
