Organization Background:
The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national, non-profit career and technical student organization (CTSO) of middle school and high school students engaged in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Since TSA was chartered in 1978, over 5,000,000 student members have participated through competitions, intracurricular activities, leadership opportunities, and community service.
The Member Recruitment Specialist will:
- Actively seek and attract potential new membership opportunities utilizing various marketing and outreach strategies.
- Respond to membership-related inquiries and affiliation leads.
- Monitor and assess membership affiliation status and trends and offer recommendations.
- Cultivate TSA interest in states where TSA does not currently exist or have a strong presence, and enhance TSA’s presence in states where it does exist.
- Serve as a point of contact with state and local leaders and maintain open lines of communication.
- Address possible affiliation concerns and challenges.
- Track key metrics such as membership retention, longevity, and options to evaluate recruitment effectiveness.
- Represent TSA as needed at events, meetings, and conferences.
The ideal candidate will be a strategist and problem-solver. Strong sales and persuasion abilities to close deals effectively are needed. The candidate must understand the organization's mission, values, and membership. Additionally, the candidate must be collaborative, skilled in managing high-value relationships, and support the organization’s major goal of increasing membership nationwide. This is a results-oriented position.
This position reports to the national TSA executive director and has no supervisory responsibilities. The national TSA office is in Reston, Virginia, where workspace would be provided for this hybrid position. This is an excellent part-time professional position of approximately 30 hours per week, or a full-time position.
Requirements include:
· Bachelor’s degree
· Experience in Recruiting
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
· Exceptional time management and organization skills
· Exceptional interpersonal skills
· Strong technology skills
· Professional references and original writing samples will be requested
· Approximately two weeks of annual travel is expected
