About the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC: The Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC has a mission of electing strong, progressive leaders to Congress who share our vision for America’s future. The CPC PAC is the caucus’ political arm, co-chaired by Reps. Mark Pocan, Pramila Jayapal, and Jamie Raskin. It is one of the leading national groups that works to support and elect the next generation of progressive leaders that will embody the present and the future of the progressive movement.

In the 2022 cycle, the CPC PAC raised $4.4 million and spent over $1.6 million through its independent expenditure arm to support progressive House candidates around the country. It is one of the only national groups solely dedicated to electing progressive candidates to Congress.

Position summary: The CPC PAC is hiring a Communications and Political Advisor that will be entrusted to build out the organization’s communications program and assist the team’s political work. The primary focus will be directly supporting endorsed campaigns with their communications work, offering guidance to candidates, members, and campaign staff, assisting with aspects of the PAC’s political operation, serving as the PAC’s press contact for press, and tracking polling and progressive movement messaging.

This position will work closely with CPC PAC-endorsed campaigns and candidates to support their communications and campaign work to help win competitive primaries and general election races. The position will report to and work closely with the organization’s Executive Director.

The Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC is a small but impactful team. The position is based in Washington DC and is currently remote, but employees should be prepared to transition to in-person duties this cycle with some flexible hybrid work options. This position requires the ability to work core hours, Monday through Friday, and may require occasional night and weekend hours.

Compensation and Benefits: This full-time position will be based in Washington, DC. The salary range for this position is $75,000-98,000/year. Benefits also include:

Qualifications: Applicants should have a clear understanding of and passion for progressive issues, communications, and campaigns. Qualified candidates will ideally have at least four years of campaign, campaign-adjacent, and/or progressive movement experience, and ideally have worked on at least two federal or statewide campaigns, preferably in at least one communications role with on-the-record experience.

Candidates must have the ability to manage up in a remote environment and possess strong project management skills. A communications and/or campaign management background and work with progressive candidates or issues is a strong plus. Attention to detail, excellent writing skills, and a strong understanding of campaigns and communications are critical for this role.

Communications responsibilities:

  • Directly support campaign communications efforts of CPC PAC members and endorsed candidates, including but not limited to:
  • Training campaign staff on communications best practices
  • Assisting campaign staff with press needs
  • Working with candidates, campaigns, and consultants to offer strategic guidance on big-picture and day-to-day messaging and press decisions
  • Conducting media training and prep sessions with candidates
  • Develop and distribute campaign-related messaging guidance for candidates, members, and staffers
  • Coordinate the PAC’s candidate and member endorsement roll-outs
  • Oversee the PAC’s fundraising email edits and approval process
  • Help manage the PAC's social media posts
  • Track and evaluate polling on progressive messaging
  • Manage and produce additional CPC PAC content (press releases, memos, other written materials)
  • Serve as the lead press contact for CPC PAC media inquiries and outreach


Political responsibilities:

  • Serve as the lead CPC PAC political point of contact for a select number of campaigns
  • Along with the Executive Director, conduct or participate in candidate interviews and correspond with campaign staff
  • Evaluate campaigns and make recommendations internally
  • Provide strategic guidance to campaigns, candidates, and members
  • Assist in drafting race memos and other internal briefing and materials
  • Other work in supporting the PAC’s political and programmatic efforts
