Chief People & Administrative Officer
The Obama Foundation is seeking a Chief People & Administrative Officer to work with leadership to expand current initiatives and develop ambitious plans reflecting the diverse fabric of our nation, and embody the Foundation’s values of Teamwork, Humility, Integrity, Inclusivity, Stewardship, Fearlessness and Imagination. INSTITUTION OVERVIEW
Established in 2014, The Obama Foundation is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, today carrying on President and Mrs. Obama’s lifelong goals to empower emerging leaders, build stronger communities, and create lasting change at the local, national, and global level. The Foundation oversees planning for the future Obama Presidential Center, as well as a range of domestic and global programs.

THE POSITION
The Chief People & Administrative Officer serves as a central point for this mission. Reporting directly to the President of the Foundation, the role will serve as a functional leader responsible for strengthening overall human capital management and actualizing the Foundation’s equity philosophy to ensure it permeates, and informs, all aspects and decisions made by the Obama Foundation for its 200 employees, contractors, and consultants. The Chief People & Administrative Officer will also serve as an enterprise-wide thought partner to the Board and Executive Leadership.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as a member of the Obama Foundation Leadership Team and as a trusted advisor to the Board, as well as a thought partner and coach to senior staff.
Partner with the President and leadership team in both long-term strategies and short-term operational decisions.
Oversee the effective design, development, and implementation of a full spectrum of People Team initiatives and programs, including talent acquisition and retention, talent/performance management and development, people analytics, ethics and compliance programs, employee relations, as well as other key areas.
Promote a values and performance-driven, mission-aligned culture.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
A senior human resources leader with a proven history of assessing, hiring, managing, coaching, and retaining diverse and high-performing teams.
Proven administrative experience with the ability to oversee excellent fiscal operations with a solid track record of success.
Transformational leader with a proven and successful track record in change management, particularly with regard to developing cohesive but distinct programs that employ multiple strategies.
Ability to interact effectively with people from different racial, ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, disability, geographical, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Corporate or nonprofit experience with evidence of a strong service orientation that demonstrates a values/mission alignment.
Experience designing and embedding a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion philosophy and program.
