ARGENTUM is the leading national trade association serving companies that own, operate, and support professionally managed senior living communities in the United States.

We are seeking a candidate for the Manager, Public Policy position in Alexandria, VA. This position is responsible for providing support on legislative and regulatory issues affecting the senior living industry at the federal and state levels. Responsibilities will include monitoring and tracking legislative priorities, researching current trends affecting the senior living industry, supporting programmatic interests of Argentum, and liaising with members of Congress and their staff, the White House, federal agencies, state legislators and relevant non-governmental organizations. 

Specific responsibilities include: 

1. Routine management of legislative tracking tool (FiscalNote) to monitor federal and state legislative activities, including analyzing proposed bills and regulations, preparing summaries and issue briefs 

2. Liaison between the association and Congressional offices, the Administration, relevant agencies, and other relevant organizations

3. Maintain relationships with Congressional staff through in person and/or phone/web meetings, and various communication methods

4. Supporting the execution of the association’s policy priorities, to include:

        - Assistance with various congressional Fly-Ins

        - Attend political events held in conjunction with the association’s political action               committee, Silver PAC, to convey the association’s priorities 

        - Attend congressional hearings, conferences, and events

        - Communicate the activities of Congress and the Administration to the association’s           membership, through written materials to include policy memos, newsletters,           factsheets, and summaries 

This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Public Affairs.

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in public policy, government affairs or senior living and two years of Capitol Hill experience in the field of health policy is preferred. Proven experience working with Congress, federal agencies and national organizations and associations is also preferred. The desired candidate should have experience and working knowledge of federal health programs, the budget and appropriations process and knowledge of aging issues and related legislative, regulatory and policy issues. Candidates must have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment.
