The Policy Analyst serves under the direction of the Assistant Director, Policy Division (AD/P), Deputy Assistant Director, Policy Division (D/AD), and the Associate Director, Office of Sanctions Policy and Implementation (AD/SPI), a component of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) within the Departmental Offices of the Treasury (DO).
Responsibilities
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Develop policy options, for consideration by Treasury officials, for using the authorities under which OFAC operates to address new and emerging threats to the national security, foreign policy or economy of the United States.
Participate in defining policy options in the development of new sanctions programs.
Coordinate OFAC's activities in development of new Executive Orders and regulatory programs and regulations to carry out new sanctions imposed by Congress or the President or to reflect amendments in U.S. foreign policy with respect to existing sanctions programs.
Monitor legislative activity relating to OFAC programs to ensure compliance with U.S. policy, and reviews and provides comments on legislative proposals affecting OFAC.

Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience for the GS-14: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
Experience with respect to U.S. economic sanctions programs administered by Treasury/OFAC. Examples of this experience could include but are not limited to: 1. Policy analysis, development, implementation, and evaluation of U.S. economic sanctions programs; AND/OR 2. Legal or policy aspects or international trade, international investments, and/or international financial transactions. AND
Experience with effective oral communication of substantive and technical issues. Examples of this experience could include but are not limited to legal or policy analysis and writing, including writing for a professional audience, providing training or presentations explaining sanctions, regulations, or statutes.
Specialized experience for the GS-13: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
Experience with respect to U.S. economic sanctions or trade embargo programs imposed by the President, U.S. national security, and/or foreign policy. Examples of this experience could include but are not limited to policy analysis, development, and/or implementation or evaluation of U.S. economic sanctions programs. AND
Experience with effective oral communication of technical issues such as legal or policy analysis and writing.
Specialized experience for the GS-12: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
Experience with respect to U.S. economic sanctions or trade embargo programs imposed by the President, U.S. national security, and/or foreign policy. Examples of this experience could include but are not limited to assisting in policy analysis, development, implementation, and/or evaluation of U.S. economic sanctions programs. AND
Experience with effective oral communication of technical issues such as legal or policy analysis and writing.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks.
