The Office of Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Constituent Services Representative in the New Jersey District Office. This role is essential in providing direct assistance to constituents navigating federal agencies and programs.
Job Expectations:
The Constituent Services Representative (CSR) plays a vital role in the Congressman’s district operations by serving as a liaison between constituents and federal government agencies. The CSR will manage a portfolio of issue areas (such as Veterans' Affairs, Department of State, Office of Personnel Management, immigration, etc.) and will work closely with the District Director, other Constituent Services staff, and Field Representatives to ensure constituents receive prompt and effective assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for constituents needing assistance with federal agencies, such as the VA, IRS, Social Security Administration, USCIS, and others.
- Maintain and manage a casework portfolio in assigned areas of expertise.
- Track, monitor, and update the Congressman and District Director on casework trends and emerging issues in the district.
- Draft and manage correspondence related to constituent cases, ensuring timely and professional responses.
- Maintain detailed, organized, and accurate case files in the office’s casework management system.
- Screen and refer constituent cases to appropriate federal, state, or local entities when necessary.
- Engage with agency contacts to advocate on behalf of constituents and expedite case resolution.
- Attend district events, town halls, and meetings to engage with the community and stay informed on constituent needs.
- Identify opportunities to improve office procedures and enhance constituent service delivery.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in customer service, casework, or a related field, with a focus on developing and maintaining relationships.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain a high level of professionalism in all constituent interactions.
- Capable of balancing multiple tasks and managing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- A deep commitment to public service and improving the lives of constituents.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with or within federal agencies (e.g., VA, USCIS, SSA) is a plus.
- Demonstrated interest in public service and community engagement.
- Familiarity with Congressman Kean’s district and a strong understanding of the community’s needs and priorities.
