POSITION OVERVIEW   

As an associate manager you will strengthen our nation’s democracy by working to increase society’s trust in and engagement with government, which is one of three key priorities in the Partnership’s 2023-2026 strategic plan. To accomplish your work, you’ll have a range of responsibilities including managing programs and events, managing internal and external stakeholders, developing public-facing products and materials and managing funders. 

We are seeking an associate manager to support the organization’s work to rebuild public trust in government and increase the commitment of critical elements of society to the health of our federal government. In this role, the individual will work across the organization, particularly with members of the Partnership’s research, communications and programs teams, to manage cross-functional projects. This position is ideal for someone who has a project coordination and management background; can balance several competing priorities at once; and excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Experience with the federal government is beneficial but not required. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES   

  • With senior-level oversight, manage small to mid-size projects or key components of larger, more complex projects.
  • Once project scope is established, assist with breaking work down into activities and deliverables; manage the completion of those activities and deliverables as assigned.
  • Coordinate among dispersed internal stakeholders and manage projects with contributors from across the organization.
  • Assist senior team members with building and monitoring project budgets. 
  • Develop public-facing products and materials for government leaders, external partners, funders and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and follow standard operating practices for consistently providing quality products. 
  • Compile literature reviews or summaries of thought leadership and events related to trust in government and public institutions. 
  • Analyze project effectiveness, offering a point of view and making recommendations to maximize impact and solve problems.
  • Advance the Partnership’s mission, profile and brand by building and managing strong relationships with federal agency leaders and other external stakeholders, identifying potential areas of organizational growth, and supporting in the development of prospective initiatives.
  • Coordinate and facilitate internal planning meetings and project meetings with external partners.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE  

  • Minimum of two to four years of total work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree required in public administration, political science, business administration, communications or a related field, or equivalent work or military experience.
  • Minimum of one year demonstrated project management experience.


PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE  

  • Experience working with the federal government.
  • Experience managing complex stakeholder networks.
  • Experience managing multi-faceted projects with varied outputs. 
  • Familiarity with project management tools, e.g. Asana, Microsoft Project. 


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY/REPORTING STRUCTURE   

This position reports to a senior manager leading the trust in government team. This position may supervisor an intern. 


WORK ENVIRONMENT   

This job operates in a hybrid (remote + office) environment in Washington, DC, and requires the candidate to be a permanent resident in the Washington, DC, Maryland or Virginia area. In assessing employee performance at the Partnership, we consider collaboration, results, demonstration of our values and a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility. This position requires consistent use of office equipment such as computer, telephone, printer and scanner.


POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK   

This is a full-time exempt position with regular work hours Monday-Friday, 9 am to 6 pm. Occasional evening or weekend activities may be required.  Please note that the Partnership allows flexibility in work schedules.


TRAVEL   

If travel occurs, it is usually local and during the business day. Some out of the area and/or overnight travel may occasionally be required. 


SALARY AND BENEFITS   

The starting salary range for this position is $60,000 - $65,000. The Partnership offers a compensation package that includes a competitive salary; medical, dental and vision coverage; life insurance; long- and short-term disability insurance; a 401k program with a 4 percent employer match; opportunities for training and development; 15 days of annual leave per year, 10 days of sick leave per year, plus all federal holidays and the day after Thanksgiving off; and use of an on-site exercise facility.
