DEPARTMENT: Treaty Rights & Government Affairs
JOB SUMMARY: The Policy Analyst will support the Tulalip Tribes through the Treaty Rights Office on a wide array of natural and cultural resource issues that are concerning to the Tribe. Analyze impacts of proposed projects to the Tulalip’s off reservation treaty-reserved rights including treaty fishing rights and other cultural rights Formulate written responses and/or recommendations, and oral presentations to address them. Advocate for tribal treaty rights and collaborate with other tribal departments such as; state and federal agency representatives, non-governmental organizations, and state and federal legislative bodies, in order to create and execute programs and policies. Help organize and represent the Tulalip Tribes on relevant technical or policy-related forums. The Treaty Rights Policy Analyst is expected to work well independently and cooperatively, on a wide range of projects and subject matter under the guidance and direction of the Senior Environmental Policy Analyst and the Director of Treaty Rights and Government Affairs.
COMPENSATION: $33.27 hr.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Policy, Planning, Environmental Science, Biology, Native Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management, Conservation Biology or related field.
- Master’s Degree preferred. * May be considered in lieu of three (3) years of experience.
MINIMUM RELATED EXPERIENCE
- Four (4) years of experience in one of the following areas; Conservation Biology, Natural Resources Management or Policy, Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Native Environmental Science, or related natural or social science field.
- Experience working with Tribal Governments and diverse cultures.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES
- WA State Driver License. (Personal Auto Insurance)
- Must adhere to the Motor Vehicle Regulations (Abstract Required)
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a regular Full-Time position.
