Donor Relations Lead

About UMR:
United Mission for Relief and Development (UMR) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Washington, DC. We are one of the fastest growing NGOs in the country, with a focus on relief and developmental needs globally and domestically.
We are seeking an energetic Donor Relations Lead to work from our headquarters office in Washington, DC. In this role, you will design and oversee the Donor Care Department structure to bridge gaps in communication and standardize operating procedures for all donor needs. You are someone who takes initiative with little to no direction, is detailed, organized, and most importantly- driven! This role is meant to enhance the donor relationship with UMR by streamlining all communications and outreach, and bringing excellent customer service to our wonderful supporters.
Responsibilities:
Donor Stewardship and Management (80%)
- Automate complex donor processes that remove challenges to the current system and create more efficient streamlined systems
- Generate monthly reports and dashboards using Salesforce and other integrated platforms to identify strengths and weaknesses within existing systems and to track progress of fund development efforts
- Establish and manage information tracking processes regarding acknowledgement, recognition, on-going communications and continued cultivation of past and current donors and leads to enhance their relationship with UMR and increase the likelihood of continued contributions (donor retention)
- Discover donor companies’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) and/or workplace giving objectives, identify opportunities that align with UMR’s mission statement, and work with donor care staff to create engaging initiatives and opportunities
- Connect with different communities, attend relevant events, and coordinate with C level staff on high visibility events and opportunities to present UMR to new and existing donors
- Generate specific development reports from all donor platforms (sponsors, major donors, individuals, lapsed donor, etc.) to understand donor behavior
- Conduct prospect research
- Manage donor accounts in Salesforce and follow up with payment processes, including troubleshooting
- Maintain external UMR online profiles like Charity Navigator and Guidestar, keeping information up-to-date
- Provide professional assistance and interaction with donors (via phone, computer and face-to-face) including potentially traveling to meet high-level donors for solicitation activities
Communications (20%)
- Work with the Programs, Finance, Volunteer and Marketing Departments to coordinate all activities related to donor care including the distribution of program updates and completion reports for donors, volunteer opportunities, campaigns, and processing financial payments
- Execute donor and funder communications including fundraising campaign letters, new donor letters, major donor letters, and gift acknowledgements
- Determine website updates needed to reflect the needs of the donors
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to maintain a calm and professional attitude under pressure or constantly shifting priorities
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team; must be extremely detail oriented, well organized, focused and goal oriented, with a high level of initiative and energy, as well as problem solving skills
- Must possess strong leadership, communication, project management and strategic thinking
- Prior experience in a database management as well as knowledge of CRM database required (including Salesforce)
- Fluency in English, written and oral. Knowledge of Arabic/Urdu is a plus
- Superior relationship-building skills. Courteous and professional manner, with multicultural sensitivity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s required
- 2 years working in a similar role; preferably a nonprofit organization
- Must have U.S. Work Authorization
Salary Range: Negotiable
