Bondi Partners is looking for a Director of Government Relations to support the lobbying arm of our fast-growing strategic advisory firm.

With offices in Washington D.C, Los Angeles, Sydney, and London, Bondi Partners is uniquely positioned to work with companies at the critical intersection of policy, politics and the private sector across the U.S., Australia, and the U.K. This is an exciting opportunity to join our U.S. operations, working with our existing suite of clients while also taking a lead role in expanding our client roster. You will join a dynamic global team with a track record of working with C-suite executives and Boards to deliver breakthrough results. 

As part of the Bondi Partners Group, the Director of Government Relations will own client relationships and work closely with the firm’s leadership team to support the day to day operations of our U.S. government relations business, Pacific Partners. Our senior staff are high-energy, detail-oriented and experienced professionals who are comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial, fast-moving and positive team-based environment. 

This is a client-facing role that requires exceptional communication skills and a deep understanding of both government and the corporate sector. The successful applicant will be required to get across and synthesize complex information quickly and effectively, share insights and analysis confidently, and develop considered strategies and campaigns to successfully deliver on client goals. 

Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the CEO Americas, help to lead and manage our Washington, D.C. government relations operation, Pacific Partners.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders and decision makers including elected officials, their staff, key officials, thought leaders, industry associations and other public policy stakeholders outside of the organization, regardless of their political affiliation.
  • Monitor, advise, and engage on the changing political landscapes at the federal, state and local levels of government, with a strong understanding of the political process and the ability to analyze how the process may impact the Company or its clients.
  • Provide analysis of, and recommendations related to, Congressional legislation and Executive Branch actions in a manner that supports clients’ strategic planning process, including briefing internal and external stakeholders on public policy updates and recommended strategies/messages.
  • Support clients to use their public and government affairs assets to protect, enhance, develop and defend their enterprise value, drawing on the Bondi Group’s in-depth industry knowledge and experience and broad network of relationships across the Americas and Indo-Pacific.
  • Support the overall client roster, leading client engagements and managing the full life cycle of the client through acquisition, servicing and retention for prospective and existing clients.
  • Represent Bondi Partners and its clients at external stakeholder meetings and events such as conferences and embassy events.
  • Support Bondi Partners to continue growing the government relations business and foster its client relationships, including developing a deep understanding of clients’ longer-term goals, policies and operating procedures to identify beneficial partnerships or collaborations.
  • Develop and execute strategies to affirmatively shape the policies, legislation and decisions that affect clients’ business objectives.

Candidate Profile:

  • 10+ years of professional experience in government relations, politics, international affairs and/or other relevant fields.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Masters degree in business or international relations preferred (but not required). 
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. state and federal policy, regulatory and political environments is essential. 
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, high-level stakeholder engagement and client management; preference for a combination of government and private sector experience. 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including managing dynamic teams, and high-level judgment.
  • Strong writing skills, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to think outside the square, solve problems and prioritize work.

  • A passionate interest in U.S politics and policy trends and an ability to translate and contextualize this for international audiences.
  • Exceptional writing, analytical and presentation skills and excellent attention to detail.
