The Coordinator of Person-Centered Supports assists the organization in providing excellence in person-centered services and supports so people may achieve their desired goals.

Candidates must have a sound knowledge of developmental disability system. This position provides the lead support in promoting advocacy initiatives for adults and children and their families consistent with The Arc Westchester’s mission, vision, and values. This position supports advocates with intellectual and developmental disabilities to run their own independent advocacy group. The Coordinator will actively oversee the CQL Personal Outcomes Measures® interview process to determine quality of life outcomes for people receiving services.

What skills are we looking for?

  • Ability to relate effectively with the people we support, their parents, family, and other community professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and as member of a team maintaining an effective working relationship with fellow staff, advocates, families, members of Board of Directors and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and speak effectively.
  • Good understanding of the adult learning theory, interactive skill building, as well as methodologies used in low-literacy and culturally diverse communities.
  • Proven capacity to work productively in highly collaborative settings.

Responsibility Include:

  • To establish and run an independent self-advocacy group run

by and for people with a disability. * To establish pathways to have their voices heard and to have real input into all levels of service provision, government, and the broader community

  • To support peer advocates to access resources, training and advice that ensures their ongoing control of the group as an independent entity which is not shaped by outside expectations of people without a disability.
  • Provide the encouragement, support, and advice required to assist the group to undertake meetings and group activities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $40,000.00 per year
