About the role:

Primary practitioner ensuring the highest integrity of data is attained and maintained. Responsible for tracking projects, cleaning data, structural data entry, vetting and quality control, assisting with end-user support, and assisting with other projects as they arise.

What you’ll do:

  1. Tracking and completing data cleanup and normalization projects that are priority for the Collections Information team:

  3. Event (4D Worksheet) Records
  4. Authority Lists
  5. Record Relationships & Linking
  6. Inactive Records
  7. Tracking and completing cataloging and normalization projects that are a priority for the institution and stakeholders:
  8. Mannequins
  9. Textile Props
  10. Exhibition Furniture
  11. Mounts
  12. Time-Based Media
  13. Vets object records for website.
  14. Ensures staff adherence to data entry standards and cataloging guidelines.
  15. Performs regular audits.
  16. Attends Cataloging Working Group meetings.
  17. Contributes to documentation.
  18. Assists with end-user support as needed.
  19. Assists with the implementation of interoperability and international schema standards for objects and art.

What you’ll bring:

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Science, Museum Studies (with a focus on collections management, collections information, or digital collections management), or related degree.

Minimum 3 years of experience with museum cataloging, database management, digital collections management, and/or arts management. 

Experience with project management, completing long-term data cleaning projects, implementing museum cataloging standards and controlled vocabularies, structural cataloging, and/or digital preservation standards. Previous experience with TMS (The Museum System) is preferred.

  •  Proficiency with relational databases required.
  •  Proficiency with SQL, SSRS reporting, and Crystal Reports, or a desire to learn, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of controlled vocabularies, art cataloging standards, interoperability standards, open access, and cataloging schema such as LIDO (CIDOC), CDWA, Spectrum, and provenance-related standards.
  • Highly attuned attention to detail.
  • Highly organized, intentional, and thorough in all tasks.
  • Highly motivated and proactive.
  • Excited and enthusiastic about clean data!
  • Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team to complete shared goals,   while being able to contribute and manage workload independently.
  •  Ability to sit for long periods of time working on a computer.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.


This position has a fixed-term of 12 months

 Step 1 of the pay range is $26.51 per hour.

This Union position is full-time, 40 hours a week, and has a full benefits package including medical, dental, vision and 401(k), and paid time off.
