ABIC is active in key states and communities across the country, engaging activists, advocates, business leaders, and elected officials on the urgency of passing immigration reform that boosts our economy, creates jobs, eases the labor shortage, and supports families. The goal of our bipartisan coalition of over 1200+ diverse businesses and business associations is to provide a strong and effective voice seeking sensible immigration reforms to grow our economy and strengthen our families. Currently, ABIC is active in 16 states including Illinois, Florida, Texas, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, South Carolina, North Carolina, Colorado, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, Arizona, Idaho, Utah, and Nevada.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Small Business Assistant works directly with ABIC staff to assist with Illinois’s small business recovery work. The Small Business Assistant is responsible for managing various reporting and outreach efforts with focus on client lists retention, data collection, and monthly reporting. Additional responsibilities include outreach with small business clients around small business recovery opportunities. A successful Small Business Assistant will meet deadlines, organize, and present timely data and information, have a keen attention to detail, maintain confidentiality, demonstrate honesty and trustworthiness and make a solid, positive impact. Effective Small Business Assistants are self-motivated, responsible, agile team players, and able to work independently.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Assist Program Manager with client lists retention and data collection.
  • Create invoices and monthly data reports. Provide support to the Program Manager to meet all grant requirements.
  • Track events and work with Program Manager and communications team to create outreach materials, sample fliers and events with small business clients around opportunities to build ABIC’s and subgrantee’s plans. 
  • Assist in coordinating federal, state, and local engagement, coalition organizing, and other in-state outreach on behalf of ABIC.
  • Work collaboratively with in-state consultants and additional coalition hires.
  •  Partner effectively with ABIC allies across the policy spectrum.
  • Check office mail to sort and scan mail
  • Batching, depositing, and entering check information


EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven commitment to meeting deadlines and managing multiple deadlines on a short, fast paced time campaign style timeline.
  • Experience collecting and managing data. CRM familiarity preferred.
  • Experience assisting teams.
  • Able to assist with moving projects and programs to completion in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to coalition building to advance victories.
  • Strong commitment to ongoing processes that ensure transparency and communication in carrying out the work.
  • Ability to learn various systems for data tracking, email, mobile, volunteer recruitment, and fundraising.
