POSITION SUMMARY:

The National Lawyers Guild San Francisco Bay Area Chapter (NLGSF) is the largest chapter of the National Lawyers Guild, with over 700 members. NLGSF seeks a Membership Coordinator to ensure the smooth operation of our office, engagement of our members and managing our database and dues of members. The Membership Coordinator will report directly to the Executive Director.


Details of Employment

  • Position begins between January 25 and February 16
  • Full-Time position (can work remotely, but will need to come into a office at least once per week, COVID Guidelines are in place for in office usage)
  • $52,000 - $55,000 salary plus generous benefit package (depending on experience)


Main Responsibilities

 Membership Operations:

  • Manage and ensure the quality and accuracy of our membership database.
  • Respond to member email and telephone inquiries.
  • Oversee monthly billing of members and lapsed members.
  • Support sustainer drives and renewals.
  • Oversee and update membership listservs.
  • Support with on-line, mail and in-person fundraisers
  • Support Committees in scheduling and promoting CLEs, webinars and events


Membership Engagement:

  • Manage membership communications through various social media platforms and other communication tools. (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Wordpress, newsletters, etc)
  • Create and distribute a regular weekly email newsletter, announcements and action alerts to members and supporters. 
  • Facilitate monthly membership meetings and other membership engagement with input from staff, board members, Committees and organizational members.
  • Recruit members to participate in program and Committee work. 
  • Assist with projects targeted at growing NLG-SFBA’s membership base.


Volunteer Coordination: 

  • Recruit members through outreach on social media, lists and partner organizations. 
  • Find placements for volunteers that supports the needs or work of the NLG, uses their skills and provides satisfying engagement. 
  • Support staff and Committees on securing volunteers to support with the work. 


Fundraising: 

  • Support fundraising mailings and online campaigns.
  • Create, send, print and mail thank you letters and packages to donors and sustainers. 
  • Track donors and keep credit card and donation information up-to-date in database. 
  • Support fundraising events for sustainers and donors. 


Office Administration:

  • Check and respond to general office email accounts and voicemail boxes.
  • Collect and sort incoming mail.
  • Ensure that bills and checks received get to the ED and Bookkeeper. 
  • Reconcile online and mail-in donations monthly from both NLG and BACLF (our fiscal sponsor). 
  • Breakdown credit card expenses for Bookkeeper. 
  • General office filing and data entry.
  • Coordinate main office operations, including ordering supplies, coordinating use of office space, serving as primary point of contact for office service providers.
  • Support Board of Directors and committees with any meeting logistics.
  • Coordinate and prepare mailing lists for mass mailings to members as needed.
  • Coordinate and provide support for staff and program meetings as needed.


Technology Assistance:

  • Assist other staff members in creating forms, mailings, and surveys through Powerbase
  • Oversee social media communications on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter
  • Help administer Zoom account, meetings, and webinars 
  • Support hotline technology needs
  • Manage platforms used by organization include Tresorit, ASANA, Protonmail, G-Drive and Suite, Microsoft Office, LastPass and research and implement others as needed
  • Update and maintain website


Event Coordination: 

  • Support with all aspects of event planning, coordination and promotion including on-line and in-person events
  • Support with annual testimonial dinner coordination, promotion, ticket sales and journal ad submissions


Qualifications and Characteristics

 

Required

  • At least two years of experience in fundraising, event planning/coordination, member services, or customer service. 
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, accurately, and efficiently.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of people. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experiences with database management and quick to learn new technologies
  • Self-motivated and independent – must be able to implement and complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and adjust to changing situations.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.

 

Desired

  • Experience with non-profit databases (familiarity with PowerBase or CiviCRM highly preferred)
  • Knowledge of WordPress and other platforms used by organization
