Government Relations Intern (Remote)
Overview:
Weedmaps is looking for a dynamic, bright part-time or full-time intern to join our Government Relations team. Primary duties of this position include tracking legislative and regulatory activity in targeted states, working with Weedmaps’ Government Relations team to develop data and organize written products to support the company’s advocacy initiatives. Exceptional writing, data analysis and interpersonal skills are desired. This position will be based in Weedmaps’ Irvine, CA office.
The Impact you'll make:
- The tracking of state and local legislation
- Developing factsheets, whitepapers, public comment letters, and other written products
- Organizing data to support Weedmaps’ federal, state, and local initiatives
- Conducting research and drafting reports on state and local policy issues
- Assembling meeting/event materials
- Support local engagement
- Special projects as necessary
What you've accomplished:
- An undergraduate degree and actively participating in a master’s degree program.
- Strong research and writing skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with project management tools (JIRA, SharePoint, Basecamp) is a plus
- Attention to detail and ability to simultaneously manage and prioritize many tasks and communicate effectively
- A positive, team-oriented attitude and ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
- Fundamental understanding of federal, state and local government structures and legislative processes
