Position Summary: The Program Manager will further the academic mission of the Institute for African American Affairs (IAAA) and the Center for Black Visual Culture (CBVC) with the implementation, supervision and administration of public programs and special events shaped by big ideas, African American and African diasporic Studies, black visual and performance culture, and deep research. The Program Manager will also manage budgets; develop marketing strategies to promote programs; and create policies and procedures concerning program and curriculum development. Qualifications: Required Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Humanities or Social Sciences

Preferred Education:

Master's Degree in Humanities or Social Sciences

Required Experience:

5+ years relevant professional level experience or equivalent combination. Must include experience with program development, grant writing, marketing, special events' planning, research, budget management, and staff supervision.

Preferred Experience:

Experience in an academic and/or arts-related environment. Experience with fundraising and/or public relations.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Excellent organization, interpersonal, networking, writing, and public speaking skills. Demonstrated ability to develop and administer academic programs that further academic and organizational missions. Ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels, including donors and potential donors. Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Knowledge of African American studies, African diasporic culture, Black visual, performance and popular culture.
