Job Description
Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) office is looking for a Southeastern Ohio District Representative. Duties and responsibilities are listed below:
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Assist the Southeastern Ohio District Director in community outreach with the 18 southeastern counties of Ohio.
- Represent the Senator at community events, including building relationships with all levels of public offices, visiting with business leaders and nonprofits, etc.
- Correspond legislative and non-legislative SE Ohio requests with the State and D.C. teams.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Travel to community events to meet with stakeholders several times a week.
- Address stakeholder needs through communication with State and D.C. offices.
- Build and maintain relationships throughout the 18-county district.
- Maintain a schedule and be punctual.
- Assist SE Ohio District Director with various other needs and tasks.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS/WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Understanding of rural and Appalachia Ohio is preferred;
- Candidates should expect to work on the road; this job requires a highly self-motivated individual.
- Anticipate using personally owned vehicle for travel; this individual will be required to drive a lot; mileage reimbursed;
- Self-motivated and willing to travel through the district multiple days a week;
- Have the ability to communicate via calls and emails with other staff;
- Work is public-facing and requires frequent interaction with members of the public, including constituents, in a prompt, courteous and tactful manner;
- Regularly uses typical office equipment, software programs, and methods of communication, including, for example, a computer, e-mail, telephone, photocopier, etc.
