About The Role:
The Cambridge Youth Council (CYC), a subcommittee of the Family Policy Council, is a group of 16 young people, ages 14 to 18, who work on projects addressing the opportunity gaps in Cambridge, as well provide the Family Policy Council with valuable feedback. The CYC Coordinator will work in partnership with the CYC members and provide supervision and support on their projects and activities. The CYC Coordinator will report to the Executive Director of the Family Policy Council.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate Youth Council (CYC) activities and facilitate meetings
- Plan, design, organize, and implement age appropriate projects, activities, and leadership development skills
- Advise youth on project planning and implementation
- Assist youth in identifying, accessing and securing necessary partners, resources and information to facilitate their work
- Assist youth to prepare, implement and track progress of projects
- Support our social media campaign and upkeep of the CYC website
- Research necessary information to support the work of CYC
- Manage supplies and documentation of subcommittee work
- Provide counseling and mentoring to youth
- Be a positive role model to youth and develop meaningful relationships with CYC members
- Chaperone and help plan the annual CYC trip to the National League of Cities Conference
- Support Executive Director on Family Policy Council related tasks that the youth are involved in
- Represent the Family Policy Council and CYC at partner events and activities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Extensive knowledge about youth development and youth work
- Experience in recruiting and working with culturally diverse communities
- Experience in planning and implementing small- and large-scale projects with youth
- Strong organizational and facilitation skills
- Conflict resolution skills
- Experience using social media as a communication and outreach tool
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong leadership, organizational and team building skills

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, walk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to run, during play or responding to an emergency. Employees are frequently required to use their hands and arms to handle and manipulate objects as well as reach. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move a child.
