Senator Jeanne Shaheen seeks a DC-based Deputy Communications Director. The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, helping lead on national press outreach; serving as an on-the-record spokesperson; building and maintaining relationships with national media, including TV producers, and beat reporters; assisting in communications strategy; writing and editing copy for various forms of public release, including for traditional and social media platforms, messaging and talking points for interviews and events; helping oversee digital and social media programs; generating creative, proactive press ideas; collaborating across departments; and helping to prepare the Senator for media and public appearances.

Applicants should have excellent writing and interpersonal communication, attention to detail, organizational skills, creativity, astute judgement and the ability to balance competing deadlines. Candidates should have at least 6-8 years of relevant communications experience – Senate or House experience is preferred. Salary commensurate with experience. This is not an entry level position.
