The Office of Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) is seeking qualified part- and full-time fall 2022 interns for the Washington, DC office. Ideal candidates will be highly motivated and detail-orientated, with strong verbal and written communication skills. Prior office experience and ties to New York state or New York’s 18th congressional district are preferred, but not required. Women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, and members of other traditionally underrepresented communities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Washington, DC interns are typically college freshman or above, including recent graduates and young professionals. Internships in the DC office may be eligible for college credit. Precise dates and hours are flexible to accommodate interns’ schedules, but internships typically run from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. when Congress is in session and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. when not in session.

In the Washington, DC office, intern tasks may include, but are not limited to, fielding phone calls, greeting office visitors, leading Capitol tours, logging constituent correspondence, drafting letters, working on research projects, and attending congressional briefings and hearings. Interns will meet and interact with constituents, stakeholders, and elected officials. Interns will also work closely with staff and assist in various administrative, legislative, and communications projects at the request of staff members or the Congressman.
