In this position, you will be part of TASC’s agency infrastructure, whose departments collectively assure the overall quality, fiscal responsibility, effectiveness, and impact of TASC’s work, and work to advance our mission to build a healthier, safer, and more just society.

We are currently looking for full-time – Policy Analyst Starting at $50k – contingent upon, experience, education, etc.

Summary: This position reviews, tracks, analyzes, and reports on policy issues related to regulations and legislation to impacting TASC’s Mission and Vision, to include, but not limited to criminal justice, substance use, mental health, primary health, re-entry, housing, workforce development, and non-for-profit organization operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs research and analysis of policy-related issues, develops data requests, identifies issues that need further review and develops recommendations, at the request of the VP of Policy and Executive Team.
  • Researches and prepares reports on various policy issues, organizes workshops and assists in the preparation of briefs, public comments, and other formal filings.
  • Reviews, tracks, analyzes, and reports on relevant State and Federal legislation and regulations with potential impact on the agency and clients.
  • Provides material support for TASC’s agency-wide policy and advocacy activities, including fact sheets, policy papers, testimony, presentations, talking points, research briefs, articles, proposals, and other materials as needed.
  • Coordinates agency-wide policy and advocacy activities with and among leadership and line staff, including communications with policymakers, government officials, external stakeholders, partners in treatment or related fields, community members, etc.
  • Develops and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, partners, and policymakers to further identified agency and client goals.
  • Acts as project manager as assigned.
  • Represents TASC on various public policy related committees and trade associations.
  • Schedules and coordinates meetings with policymakers, TASC Day in Springfield, and other policy-related events.
Requirements:

Our Ideal candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, law or other closely related field and one year of relevant experience. Master’s degree preferred
  • Understanding of policymaking and government offices and processes, elected and appointed officials, current politics, and political environments.
  • Knowledge and understanding of criminal-legal system, health and drug policy, relevant issues, and history preferred.
  • Ability to perform knowledgeable and meaningful policy analysis.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Ability to integrate research and program issues meaningfully into policy activities.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills. Ability to write clearly and concisely.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and related software programs and applications.

The agency currently offers hybrid work schedules that combines in-office and remote work. Employees are required to report to the work site three days per week with the option to work up to two days remotely.
