Vice President for Healthy and Resilient Communities
Conservation Law Foundation (CLF) is seeking a Vice President for Healthy and Resilient Communities (HRC) to join our team working for a healthy and thriving New England for all. CLF’s HRC program works in partnership with communities, civic leaders, universities, and impact investors to advance CLF’s mission and create lasting change on the ground. Staff in HRC bring expertise in law, planning, policy, research, and finance to the most urgent challenges facing New England, from climate change to disinvestment and displacement. Together with our partners, we have built the largest participatory action research study in the country focused on health and place; launched three impact investment funds for healthy neighborhoods totaling $85 million; produced more than 500 units of workforce housing; connected 800 New England farmers and food entrepreneurs with pro bono legal support; and successfully advocated for more equitable, inclusive, and climate-resilient development.
This is an exciting opportunity to set policy direction and priorities consistent with the organization’s Strategic Plan and our goals focused on Healthy and Resilient Communities. Through your top-level management skills, and keen knowledge of law, public health, urban planning, research and/or impact investing, you will guide your 23+ member team toward a variety of climate resilience and community health solutions across New England. Your role will also ensure that HRC team members are focused on the most strategic use of law, policy, science, and markets to maximize CLF’s impact.
The position is based in Boston, with opportunity for remote and flexible work within New England.
What you’ll do:
· Lead and implement the vision and strategy for CLF’s Healthy and Resilient Communities work;
· Over time, refine the vision and implementation strategy for CLF’s Healthy and Resilient Communities work, including research and metrics, impact investment, community resilience, and farm and food, ensuring it remains aligned with the organization’s strategic priorities;
- Engage in effective and inclusive management practices that support team members and ensure a healthy and inclusive workplace culture;
- Work closely with other senior leaders to build partnerships with people and communities most impacted by the issues we work on and where CLF policy, programmatic and legal actions will have the greatest impact;
- Work with CLF’s development team to identify and cultivate philanthropic and individual support and prepare grant proposals, project budgets and reports;
- Work with CLF’s Finance team to develop and manage an annual program budget of approximately $4 million, including pass-through funds to community partners;
- Work with CLF’s communications team and consultants on campaign plans, messaging, and collateral materials targeted to a variety of audiences including CLF members, funders, partners, and other practitioners in the field; and
- Represent CLF before partner communities, public officials, supporters, and other audiences.
What you’ll need:
· A minimum of 10 years of experience in law, public health, urban planning, or related fields;
· An advanced degree or equivalent and substantial experience in managing people and projects;
· Demonstrated success in navigating complex policy and programmatic initiatives;
· Experience starting and building new initiatives, teams, or large-scale endeavors;
· A collaborative leadership style, with proven ability to lead, manage, and support interdisciplinary teams; and
· Strong skills in networking, fundraising, financial management, and communications;
· Familiarity with impact investing principles and practices;
· Familiarity with multi-faceted advocacy campaigns including regulatory, legislative, and litigation; and
· Demonstrated commitment to addressing issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Compensation
CLF offers a competitive salary, an extensive benefits plan, and an open, inclusive, and accepting work environment where differences are highly respected. The starting salary range for this position is $124,000 - $151,000; actual salary will reflect experience and qualifications.
