Job Description

Sitting as a center of excellence within the Global Impact team, the Communications function will partner with the rest of the company to ensure a consistent brand voice and response, as well as communications readiness for issues that have material and reputational impact on the Brand. This includes corporate communications, media relations, crisis communications, reputation campaigns, and measuring our performance with quantitative and qualitative data and insights. The team will work closely with McDonald’s markets to develop reputation and brand communications strategies and compelling, creative content to drive brand trust, including analyzing trends and conversations globally that pose risks and opportunities for McDonald’s reputation in order to help mitigate those risks and maximize opportunities. The team also plays the central role in deploying communications internally and externally on behalf of McDonald’s leaders to advance its business strategy, communicate its purpose, and drive greater trust among partners.

As a member of the Global Communications Leadership team, the Senior Director – Global Campaigns and Content will play a leadership role in developing brand communications strategy and supervising a digital/social/content team that serves to drive trust among partners and mitigate reputational risk. This role will work in close partnership with marketing leads, market leads, agency partners, content creators and insights and analytics partners to build enduring reputation strategy.

In this role, you will:

Collaborate closely across the Global Impact Team, Global Marketing and markets to develop brand communications strategies and compelling, creative content to drive trust across partners and customers, aligned with the function’s management-approved metrics

Work closely with our largest markets, develop campaigns that address risks and opportunities for McDonald’s reputation and brand trust, in order to help the business mitigate those risks and take advantage of opportunities.

Oversee a team responsible for developing compelling content and creative that articulates the company’s purpose and brings its leadership platform to life across a range of media channels

Work closely with insights and analytics functions - advise on research tools that lead to data focused campaigns and measurable improvements in trust and reputation

Partner with policy teams, market functions, and Sustainability/ESG to develop stakeholder-specific campaigns that address reputational threats

Identify and manage global agency relationships to drive greater efficiency and effective campaigns for markets to utilize

Manage a team of approximately 20 and report to the Chief Communications Officer

Qualifications

Proven experience leading communications, marketing and content teams that have delivered trust for customers and partners

Solid background in leading content teams to develop highly creative assets that advance the brand

Able to clearly articulate a position and vision to internal and external teams. Including managing and overseeing agency resources

The ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, while being flexible and collaborative

Proven ability to support and counsel senior-level executives, as well as experience with people management

Enterprise attitude and ability to navigate sensitive topics with many diverse partners internally and externally

A high level of communication, flexibility and interpersonal skills, often working with global, virtual and cross-functional teams

Bachelor’s Degree

In-house and agency experience (public relations and marketing) preferred

Able to quickly develop and sustain an in-depth understanding of the McDonald’s business model
