Job Title: Senior Campaign Advisor

Location: Washington, DC

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), the campaign committee dedicated to protecting and expanding the Democratic Senate majority, is hiring a Senior Campaign Advisor for the 2022 election cycle.

The Senior Campaign Advisor reports directly to the Executive Director, and will serve as the DSCC’s point person for multiple states with candidates, campaign teams, and other partners on the ground. This is a senior-level position that requires extensive campaign experience including statewide campaign management experience.

The DSCC is based in Washington, DC, but is currently working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, interviews for this position will be scheduled virtually. Once normal in-person work practices resume, this position will be based in DC. In addition, this position will require extensive travel when normal business travel resumes.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as lead liaison to U.S. Senate candidates and their campaigns, including:

Developing relationships that allow the DSCC to serve as a strong partner.

Providing guidance to help campaigns navigate decision-making and execute smart strategies.

Helping match top-tier talent with campaigns

Reviewing proposals and plans from vendors to ensure campaigns are receiving competitive rates and sound guidance.

Setting priorities for other DSCC staff (digital, finance, communications, research) in their interactions with campaigns.

Working with campaigns to develop paths to victory in each state.

Serve as lead liaison to state parties to ensure close coordination between state parties and the DSCC, including but not limited to staffing and funding strong organizing programs.

Collaborate with the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director on making strategic financial investments in campaigns and states.

Brief the DSCC Chair and other key members of the Democratic Caucus as needed.

WORK EXPERIENCE

At least 5 cycles of campaign experience including campaign work outside of DC.

At least one cycle of experience managing a competitive statewide campaign, with a strong preference for experience managing a top-tier U.S. Senate campaign.

Extensive experience with principal/candidate management.

Extensive experience with campaign fundraising and spending, including budgeting and cash flow.

Extensive experience working with consultants and staff to develop campaign narratives and messaging.

Extensive experience working with consultants to develop plans for opinion research and paid media that inform one another and achieve targeting and strategic messaging goals.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Commitment to protecting and expanding the Democratic Senate majority.

Strong political judgement and knowledge of U.S. Senate races in particular.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to problem-solve, think creatively, and be flexible.

Ability to work with many different types of people, both within and outside of the DSCC.

Willingness to work long, irregular hours as necessary throughout the cycle.
