Job Description

Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund, the largest gun violence prevention advocacy group in the country, is seeking a passionate, dedicated professional to join our team as a Legal Assistant. This position is part of the Office of the General Counsel (“OGC”) Department of Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund, Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund, and Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund (“Everytown”). The Legal Assistant, reporting to the Associate General Counsel, will assist the lawyers and other professionals within OGC with administrative aspects of their work including but not limited to contract and grant management, trademark maintenance, nonprofit governance, and processes for managing compliance with campaign finance, lobbying disclosure and tax laws.

We’re looking for a flexible problem-solver with exceptional attention to detail to join our team. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with contract and grant management, including maintaining databases and trackers, and working with staff, vendors and grantees to usher contracts and grants through to execution with all proper documentation and vetting.  
  • Drafting grant agreements, contribution letters and other coalition partner agreements in consultation with counsel. 
  • Maintaining and updating contract and grant templates in consultation with counsel. 
  • Helping to maintain spreadsheets and collecting information from staff required for campaign finance, lobbying, and charitable registration reports. 
  • Working with attorneys to register and maintain trademarks, including working with program staff to identify required materials for trademark applications.
  • Helping to maintain corporate documents and records.
  • Scheduling meetings for OGC.
  • Maintaining a training calendar for OGC, and assisting with training staff on various OGC processes.
  • Assisting with project management for cross-department initiatives.  
  • Assisting with various other administrative tasks required to support the legal function of a mission driven family of nonprofit organizations.   

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in a legal assistant, paralegal, compliance, or comparable role
  • Competencies: The successful candidate should demonstrate the following qualities:
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to internal and external constituents;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced organization;
  • Ability to handle confidential organizational matters;
  • Ability to rapidly shift between multiple projects and priorities;
  • Familiarity with Docusign and Google Suite (including Google sheets or Excel spreadsheets) preferred. Familiarity with Quickbase and Salesforce a plus.
  • NY State Notary a plus 

The salary range for this role is $60,000 - $70,000 per annum. Everytown offers a generous benefits package including PTO, 401K Match, Education Assistance and more.
