Facebook seeks a strategic leader to serve as Vice President Public Policy, US. The successful candidate will oversee a team working to develop and advance Facebook’s policy priorities across a wide variety of stakeholders at all levels of government in the United States.

This work includes advancing a new regulatory framework for the internet and driving partnerships with the government to update internet regulations. The Vice President Public Policy, US will represent Facebook’s interests before the US government and with key third parties including associations, think tanks, and non-governmental organizations.

The ideal candidate will be respected by both sides of the political aisle. They will bring significant management and leadership experience within a global organization, a successful track record driving a strategic policy agenda and deep expertise in internet policy issues.

Vice President Public Policy, US Responsibilities

Develop and execute on a strategic plan to help advance a regulatory framework for the Internet that preserves innovation and economic growth while providing consumers the protections they deserve.

Act as a practical visionary leader who can communicate and execute Facebook’s overall vision into actionable plans that promote company objectives through compelling advocacy in government.

Monitor the development of business issues that affect the company.

Develop strategies for addressing each issue and deploy resources to ensure management of issues.

Build best practices to ensure a consistent approach.

Partner with company leadership to align key regulatory, legislative and policy priorities.

Represent Facebook externally with Members of Congress, the Administration and with third party groups.

Develop and maintain relationships with key political and opinion leaders to help create an understanding of the company, its objectives and mission.

Advance Facebook’s public policy priorities within the broader US public policy community.

Lead and manage a team of public policy professionals.

Be politically savvy and well-known on the Hill, and in key agencies.

Minimum Qualifications

15+ years of experience in a leadership role in an Administration, on the Hill or in a government relations or public policy position.

An undergraduate degree in public policy, political science or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Have a track record of demonstrated results in both political and corporate environments.

Exceptional leadership skills, and be willing to take initiative, be creative and demonstrate a high degree of skill and judgment while working within an environment that places a premium on collaboration and teamwork.

Have demonstrated credibility with the public policy community, including think tanks, academics, policy advocates/activists, trade associations, and other NGOs.

Have sound strategic and management skills, and be capable of creating and communicating a vision, both internally and externally.

Have organizational leadership and management experience, with experience motivating others to advance goals, and experience effectively manage multiple projects or roles in a rapidly evolving environment.

Have a demonstrated track record of working with and earning the trust and confidence of high profile corporate and governmental leaders, and serving as a trusted advisor/counselor.

Experience communicating complex concepts and programs into concise and credible messages at the highest levels of government and business, with a proven track record of delivering high volume and high-quality work.

Demonstrate an eagerness to execute a hands-on approach to build credibility, relationships, and knowledge within the company.

Possess a broad knowledge and sound understanding of economic, political, public opinion and business factors that shape policies and decision making.

Possess a collaborative interaction style.

Exhibit courage and conviction to challenge and defend ideas and strategies.

Possess excellent analytical and organizational skills.
