SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the direction of the Deputy Director, Global Public Affairs and Communications, this position will lead the Internal and Constellation Communications team, which includes the New York, Bilbao, Venice and upcoming Abu Dhabi locations. The Director, Internal Communications and Global Partnerships will take a strategic approach to develop and implement internal and external communications for special initiatives, collaborations, and the Guggenheim constellation, with a special focus on employee communications and the upcoming Guggenheim Abu Dhabi location.
SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in communications and/or project management
- Prior experience working with major non-profit cultural institutions in the arts preferred
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Excellent attention to detail with ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment a must.
- Ability to be proactive, use independent judgment and initiative.
- Experience with internal communications with a focus on DEAI
- Foreign language skills are valuable asset ideally Italian, Spanish and Arabic
- Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships across a highly matrixed organization
- Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and MAC platforms, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, Exact Target, HTML, Cision, Net Community, Raiser’s Edge or other databases helpful
- Capability and fluency with digital media (social networks, video channels)
- Demonstrated experience in project management
- 2-4 years of managing direct reports preferred
- Experience working with International team members as well across multiple time zones.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Internal Communications:
- Provide strategy for effective dissemination of information for employees across Guggenheim New York, working with the Deputy Director, Global Public Affairs and in consultation with Deputy Director, Culture and Inclusion and the Deputy Director, Chief Human Resources Officer.
- Act as a thought partner with the Deputy Director on all internal issues
- Manage the content and process of All Staff Meetings and other communications.
- Partner with IT on Intranet and internal workplace communications infrastructure
- Work with the Deputy Director on all aspects of Board Communications.
Guggenheim Constellation:
- Work closely with Public Programs, Curatorial, and Digital Marketing team members on communications outreach for Guggenheim Constellation of Museums, including Guggenheim Venice, Guggenheim Bilbao, and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi
- Manage a Quarterly Constellation communications meeting
Collaborations, Partnerships and Special Projects:
- Lead on strategy and implementation of institutional language, cross-functional outreach and communication of messaging and priorities for new partnerships and collaborations
- Provide research, systems creation, and project management for special projects as they arise
Additional Responsibilities:
- Manage the departmental budget
- Supervise and manage directly the Manager, Global Communications
WORK DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENT:::
- Ability to travel within the metropolitan area as required to perform the above duties at any of the Guggenheim’s owned or leased properties upon request.
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Occasionally work may be conducted outdoors, exposure to varied weather conditions.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays on occasion.
- Ability to lift at least 25 lbs.
EDUCATION::
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Communications, English, Business, or the Humanities.
