Manager/Associate Director, Political Advocacy

Reports to VP, Government Relations and Political Affairs,

with additional reporting duties to SVP, External Affairs


 Description: 

The Manager/Associate Director, Political Advocacy is a key member of the Federation of American Hospitals (FAH) Public Affairs team, working with both the government relations and communications functions to advocate for and advance policies supported by FAH members. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of FAH’s Political Action Committee (FedPAC) including event management, member engagement, and compliance. Additionally, we are looking for someone who is excited to amplify the voice of the tax-paying hospital community through political, grassroots, and communications advocacy. This position works together with all members of the FAH team, including senior management, government affairs, communications, policy, legal, and operations, in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 



Responsibilities: 

  • Plan and execute all aspects of fundraising events hosted by FedPAC, including communicating with external partners, managing invitations and RSVPs, determining event logistics, creating briefing memos, and other responsibilities as necessary. 
  • Lead all compliance reporting including FEC Filings and Lobbying Disclosures (FEC 3x, LD-2, and LD-203 forms). 
  • Be responsible for internal FedPAC financial operations including budget creation and management, monthly bank reconciliations, check processing and management of incoming receipts, and coordination with internal stakeholders. 
  • Manage annual member and staff FedPAC solicitation, including solicitation materials, goal determination, and developing creative campaigns to grow the PAC. 
  • Maintain FedPAC software database and manage database consultant. 
  • Coordinate with member hospitals to plan and execute local hospital tours with Members of Congress and staff, including potential communications to promote the event.   
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with member company representatives, political fundraisers, and other external partners. 
  • Work with communications staff to develop and maintain materials (talking points, infographics, fact sheets) to advance local advocacy initiatives. 
  • Coordinate with FAH consultants and vendors, as necessary, to help produce communications and advocacy materials (infographics, podcast episodes, website updates, etc.).  

 

Experience  

  •  2-5+ years of experience, including working for a Congressional office, political campaign, or in a government affairs role  
  • Experience managing projects from inception to completion
  • Understanding of political and legislative processes and interest in political advocacy  
  • Exceptional organizational and written and oral communications skills 
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and manage priorities. 
  • Previous experience with a Political Action Committee is preferred. 

 

Salary 

  • Salary and level of position commensurate with experience. 

 

Work Location

  • FAH is headquartered in Washington, D.C., near the Gallery Place Metro station. The Manager/Associate Director position is hybrid, working out of the headquarters office Monday-Thursday, with an optional remote day on Fridays.
