Retail Communications is the internal communications team responsible for staying close to operations, listening to our retail partners and getting partners the latest information and updates, in a clear, concise, transparent and deeply human way, always through the lens of Our Mission and Values. Each communication is an opportunity to provide our store partners with the context and clarity they need to feel confident in their role, as well as heard and valued as a partner through deeply human speak.

We are looking for someone who ideally has at least 3 years of experience in communications, change management and/or campaigns. This is the perfect role for someone who is familiar with writing for internal employee channels, in store and digitally. This partner must have experience writing concisely, working fast, and collaborating with teams representing different areas of expertise. To succeed in this role, you will need deep curiosity, comfort with ambiguity, attention to detail, and a clear point of view on the role of communications within our culture. What you’ll do:

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders across Operations, Supply Chain, Public Affairs and PRO on Company-operated and Licensed Store partner communications. This includes:
  • Creating the partner communications plan for upcoming operational changes or new announcements and updates for our stores
  • Writing and producing the Weekly Update for our company operated, licensed and Canada businesses (you will be part of a rotation with other partners on the team)
  • Writing and producing Store Communications, related to topics like:
  • Pay and benefits updates
  • Stop/Sell alerts
  • Inventory disruptions and actions for store partners
  • Promo and signage updates
  • Technology or system interruptions
  • Social Impact and Community updates for stores
  • Operational updates for our licensees (e.g. Target, Kroger, etc.)
  • Writing articles for Now Brewing (barista facing magazine) or Company News (intranet), as well as Workplace posts, under the direction of our senior managers
  • Support editing, publishing and archiving retail communications.
  • Advocate for the partner perspective to land right the voice/tone for communications
  • Ensure adherence to legal and operational compliance requirements
  • Respond and share to partner comments on store communications, as needed and with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Generate insight into communications performance and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Assist with the development of partner engagement plans
  • Serve on our on-call rotation for select weekends or weeks to help write and publish emergency communications, working with team members based in Pacific time zone

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • You have a passion for communications, store and retail operations and building and fostering community inside and outside your team
  • You are a fast learner –you jump in quickly, with curiosity, to listen, learn and execute quickly
  • You write concisely, and quickly – this is key
  • You want to desire to learn from your success and failures as well from the experience of others.

  • You are comfortable working remotely during this time and using Microsoft Teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with at least 3 years of communications, campaign or change management experience , ideally in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong demonstrated writing, presentation, verbal communication and collaboration skills.
