Job Description
This is an exciting time to join the Coro Northern California team, as we’re celebrating our 80th year of working to train, support, and connect leaders to foster a thriving democracy and tackle society’s biggest challenges together. The Marketing Manager is an integral member of Coro’s External Affairs Team and is responsible for crafting and executing Coro’s organizational voice throughout all communication channels. In addition to marketing responsibilities, this position will work to realize the vision for key organizational events such as Coro’s annual Spring Gathering and Sacramento Reception.
YOUR OPPORTUNITY FOR IMPACT
Organizational marketing
- Create and own organization marketing strategy, including building quarterly strategic plan, tactic mix recommendation, and testing plan.
- Own the organization’s marketing growth goals, including things like SEO and influencer relationship strategies.
Content marketing
- Create and own editorial calendars for social media, blog and newsletter content to help shape Coro's voice. This includes creating necessary content and interfacing with other stakeholders as appropriate.
- Implement the organization’s marketing strategy via social media, email, newsletter, annual report, and various print collateral.
- Provide community management, copywriting, and fact-checking for all organizational content, including social media, website, blogs, etc.
- Serve as primary email marketer of all messaging to a varied audience, including newsletters, CEO updates, fundraising literature, and online giving campaigns.
- Analyze our marketing metrics and growth data and share overall trends and opportunities for growth.
- Maintain organization website and serve as liaison to external webmaster.
- Develop all program recruitment and organizational marketing materials (digital, print, multimedia) to be used by our recruitment team.
Collateral
- Work with CEO to create decks for various audiences, including prospective partners, donors, alumni, and the general Coro community.
- Manage photography, video, and graphic design consultants as needed to execute marketing strategy.
- Develop and direct brand identity and communication standards in collaboration with Sr. Director of External Affairs and CEO.
Event Management
- Execute the vision, production, and logistical details of signature organizational events, including our annual Spring Gathering and Sacramento Reception, including staffing and volunteer management.
- Actively participate in Coro staff meetings and retreats, communications, and project management, including contributing to partnership proposals, program reports, conference presentations, and other strategic and administrative projects.
- Participate in team discussions around local issues, brainstorm ideas for events, and be willing to occasionally wear a different hat when our small team needs it.

The following skills are required:
- Outstanding writing and editing skills; an ability to synthesize information, write compelling and succinct prose, and persuasively convey a message to diverse audiences.
- Digital marketing experience, including the development and execution of successful integrated digital marketing campaigns and content; experience writing and editing, creating visuals, and formatting HTML email templates for varied platforms.
- Thorough knowledge of social media metrics, reports, and best practices.
- Experience with Google Analytics, Google AdWords, email marketing, lead generation, and SEO.
- Experience with event production and execution.
- Familiarity with presentation tools such as Keynote, Prezi, Google slides, etc.
- Self-starter with demonstrated ability to initiate, plan, and execute projects.
- Ability to work well with multiple stakeholders using interpersonal savvy.
- Self-awareness, adaptable style, and a sense of humor.
Bonus points if you have:
- Experience working with Coro as a participant, client, or field staff.
- Video and audio editing.
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
- Basic photography skills.
YOUR LEGACY
You will amplify the impact of Coro’s civic leadership training through all communication channels, helping thousands of people advance their capacity to tackle society’s biggest challenges and contribute to a thriving democracy. Your writing and marketing finesse will help recruit the next U.S. Senator Alex Padilla, the next Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, the next SF Supervisor Connie Chan (all Coro alums) to our growing suite of programs. Your role will increase the stature of Coro and its network of leaders for years to come.
POSITION LOGISTICS
This is a full-time role. The salary range for this role is $95,000 to $105,000 annually. Coro benefits include medical, dental, 401k match, and a generous PTO/flexible work policy.
This is a Bay Area-based position. While we currently work both at home and in the office, the role will require being in-person a minimum number of days/week at our Downtown San Francisco location, and on site as needed for program and event related activities. Additionally, the Coro team gathers monthly in person at locations across the immediate Bay Area. You can learn more about our team here.
