Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY:


As a Policy Advisor, you will use your knowledge of and experience with Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Administration on Children, Youth, and Families (ACYF), Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB), to optimize business results and customer experience by:


Coordinates the effective implementation of the Division of Runaway and Homeless Youth (DRHY) program, and the Division of Positive Youth Development (DPYD) program and analyzes academic research and policy documents related to adolescent development and youth initiatives for the purpose of making policy recommendations to the Office of the Associate Commissioner, Division of Data, Performance, and Policy (DDPP) and FYSB leadership.

Reviews all FYSB notice of funding announcements to ensure consistency with legislation and regulations, sound clinical practice, and rigorous accountability; and reviews and analyzes policies and their impact on FYSB funded programs, grants, or initiatives.

Works with a current and substantial knowledge of legislation involving youth development, youth experiencing or at risk of homelessness, and behavioral health strategies.

Supports the development of responses to congressional requests/inquiries and legislative reviews regarding at-risk and vulnerable youth, develops policies and strategies that address youth development, and Government Accountability Office (GAO) engagements related to youth issues.

Analyzes legislation and assists in providing technical assistance to Congress and develops and advises funding for policy relevant research projects concerning youth, and youth centered services to DDPP and FYSB.

Supports the implementation of the Division Director's decisions in the area of policy coordination, legislation development, strategic planning, policy research and evaluation, and economic analysis.

Works on cross-cutting initiatives within FYSB to coordinate policy changes, integrate programming, share best practice, and build capacity to meet the needs of the most vulnerable at-risk youth and their families.

Represents DDPP leadership in meetings with FYSB and other representatives of other federal agencies, representatives of tribes, States and local governments, non-profit organizations, and external associations interested in FYSB's policies/programs.

Represents FYSB/DDPP leadership at selected conferences and other public forums to promote DDPP priorities.
