ANHD seeks an Operations Manager during our 50th anniversary year, to manage and support ANHD’s operations department, with dedicated experience in Information Technology and Human Resources (expertise in one).
The Position:
The Operations Manager is a crucial member of ANHD’s Operations Team, dedicated to ensuring organizational stability, health, and efficiency. This position is responsible for overseeing facilities, human resources, technology and administrative systems, serving as the lead for day-to-day operations for ANHD’s office. This role will work closely to support ANHD’s areas of general operations, which include: General Administration & Operations, Human Resources (HR), Information Technology (IT), Board Management, Finance, Communications, Development, and Special Projects.

This is a newly created role on the Operations Team, with exciting potential to shape how ANHD's team grows to support it's 80+ member organizations.
Responsibilities:
The selected Operations Manager will join ANHD’s Operations team and work closely with various team members, including Part- and Full-time staff, contractors, and consultants. They will be supervised by the Director of Operations and be primarily responsible for managing HR, IT, facilities, and administrative operations. They will support in areas of finance, general operations and other special projects. Responsibilities in detail include:
- Have primary responsibility for and demonstrated expertise in managing Human Resources (HR) and Technology and Systems (“IT”) operations.
- Human Resources:
- Liaising with ANHD’s PEO provider and various consultants to ensure ANHD’s staff have effective HR services and support that allow them to do their best work.
- Updating and managing ANHD’s handbook policies and memos
- Providing onboarding & offboarding support
- Supporting ANHD’s new performance management process and system
- Adding to organizational culture and development
- Technology and Systems:
- Liaising with ANHD’s IT provider to ensure ANHD’s staff have effective IT services and supports that allow them to do their best work
- Overseeing ANHD’s recent Outlook to Google transition (emails and storage)
- Oversee document management, email, calendars, file storage (Google Workplace), internet & web services, and general project management.
- Maintain inventory and tracking for technology equipment for in-office and hybrid work.
- Work with ANHD’s Director of Operations to co-research, analyze, and write various Operations Department policies and procedures.
- Provide support to ANHD’s other Operations Department areas and projects, as needed including:
- ANHD's next office lease and relocation (Mach 2025).
- Finance
- Communications
- Development/Fundraising
- Help maintain relationships with key contractors and vendors across the organization.
- Support organization-wide meetings, retreats, evaluations, and program active Involvement
Qualifications:

Strong analytical skills, written and verbal communications skills, and strategic thinking are required.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the Operations field, including 2 years in the HR or IT specialty area of expertise.
- A strong understanding of and interest in various operations areas, including General Nonprofit Administration, Human Resources (HR), Information Technology (IT), Board Management, Finance, Communications, Development, and Special Projects.
- Comfort liaising with various stakeholders, including contractors, consultants, ANHD staff.
- Commitment to New York City’s neighborhoods, and respect for not-for-profit community development corporations, community organizing, and grassroots organizations.
- Commitment to racial equity, and comfort applying a racial equity lens to policy and advocacy work as well as to interpersonal professional interactions and relationships.
Desirable Experiences/Skill Sets:
- Office space relocations
- Google Suite in professional settings
- Working with JustWorks or similar PEO providers
- Supporting the build out/management of outcome management systems
- Building out and supporting shared workflow and project management platforms
- Certifications in IT and/or HR
- Familiarity with and interest in affordable housing and equitable economic development issues
Location Requirements:
This position is Hybrid. Applicants will need to work from ANHD’s office in Lower Manhattan at least two days a week.
