Who are we looking for:

Reporting into Nike’s Purpose Communications team, this role will work directly with executive leaders across Nike’s Purpose areas: diversity & inclusion, community and sustainability, serving namely as communications leader for our Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer and team. The role will also work across key internal partners including Investor Relations, Corporate Governance, Risk Management, Government Affairs and Legal.

What will you work on:

This role has the dual functionality of leading communications for Nike’s diversity & inclusion portfolio, while also driving a deepened enterprise narrative across all three areas of Nike’s Purpose. This narrative work is focused specifically on leading Nike’s enterprise reporting, reputation, and corporate positioning in the Purpose space.

This role will develop and lead an internal and external communications strategy for the D&I team to engage and inspire employees and consumers, by driving Nike’s Purpose narrative and Nike’s overall corporate narrative. Secondarily, the role will create and drive Nike’s corporate reporting strategy for Purpose, including publishing Nike’s Impact Report, as well as manage issues, corporate reputation and insight gathering for Purpose. Understanding industry benchmarks as well as consumer expectations in the Purpose space will be a critical area of this work.

The Senior Director of Purpose Narrative and D&I Lead will support all communications for NIKE, Inc.’s Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer (CD&IO) and be responsible for the following:

Counseling and supporting senior executives across, but not limited to; employee communications, preparation of quarterly and annual reporting materials for Purpose corporate targets, scripts, media interviews, releases, key disclosures, investor briefings and board materials.

Communicating on complex and sophisticated issues, partner engagement, enterprise communications, corporate governance and public affairs.

Who will you work with:

This person must be highly collaborative, a strong strategic and analytical problem solver, able to influence across Nike’s business with the ability to lead contending priorities. They should be proficient at working in a cross-functional team while engaging and advising leaders across the business.

What you bring to Nike:

This role requires an outstanding communications professional with experience in corporate social responsibility, reporting, corporate reputation and issues management. Experience in corporate communications and/or public affairs, preferably working for a large consumer brand and/or communications agency are critical.

Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communication, Business or related field.

Excellent communications planning, writing and editing skills combined with speed, flexibility, and attention to detail.

Proven ability to communicate plans across a complex matrix on a corporate, regional and functional basis, including presenting before audiences of various sizes and cultures.

Strong media relations background & Purpose-related media relationships.

Experience in corporate communications or public relations roles supporting globally branded organizations, extensive experience in employee communications preferred with a focus on digital.

Ability to cut through complexity to find solutions and approaches for impact.

Strong networking and relationship building skills; ability to influence others to take action.

Experience working with high profile consumer brands is preferred.
