Overview of Organization

NJ LEEP is a college access and success program for low-income and first-generation students from the greater Newark area. NJ LEEP currently serves middle school students, high school students, college students, and family members. We help students perform at high academic levels by building skills through law-related and other educational programs, developing the habits necessary for college success and community leadership, and offering exposure to colleges, careers, and role models who have achieved professional success. The salary range for this position starts at $55,000, and NJ LEEP offers a competitive benefits package for full-time employees. 


Title & Position Summary

The Program Coordinator reports to and works closely with the Legal Education Manager to provide student, classroom, and administrative support for all law-related programming at NJ LEEP.  In addition, the Program Coordinator will have opportunities to lead specific class lessons throughout the program year. This position involves both direct student engagement and program administration.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic and administrative support for the Constitutional Law Debate program, including instruction of select SEL lessons, and classroom support, one-on-one and small-group student support, and grading/giving feedback on student briefs and other class assignments

• Support in the preparation and execution of Legal Education events, including two Constitutional Law Debates, Debate Coaching sessions, Debate Case Review, Debate Review guest speaking events, and Debate Review field trips

• Coordinate with the Legal Education Manager to facilitate mentor-student meetings and events

• Provide administrative and instructional support during the five-week Summer Law Institute program, including tracking program data and preparing class materials

• Track, input, and maintain weekly, monthly, and cyclical data for law-related education programs in NJ LEEP data-management system

• Provide administrative support on all aspects of Saturday Writing Class (class held twice a month) including printing of materials, oversight of Saturday programming, data input as required, and other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree

• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

• Strong organizational skills

• Basic data tracking skills


Preferred Experience and Qualifications

• Experience working with high school students in an academic setting

• Computer and other office equipment


Work Environment: 

• Traditional Office Environment 

• Some Saturday work (~16/year)
