Position Summary:
The Fund Development Director reports to the Chief of Innovation and Impact and in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors is responsible for developing and implementing an effective plan and strategies for successful grant seeking and corporate fundraising. The Director will cultivate and steward relationships with sponsors, foundations, corporations and government entities based on NEW’s mindset and strategic plan. This includes leveraging key relationships and contacts within and outside NEW’s network to ensure meeting fundraising goals. As an ambassador for the organization, this person is also responsible for actively supporting the overall mission and vision of NEW.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Refine and implement NEW’s comprehensive development strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and leveraging opportunities across corporate, foundation, government, and individual giving channels to drive revenue growth and deepen impact.
- Identify and research prospective corporate and foundation partners based on NEW’s strategic funding priorities
- Build and steward a robust funder engagement program that leverages NEW’s legacy, community reach, and mission—cultivating new supporters while nurturing and deepening relationships with existing funders and champions.
- Lead development and roll out of innovative, large scale revenue platforms for engaging multiple sectors and companies
- Report to the Chief of Innovation and Impact all new grant opportunities and partnership propositions, presentations, agreement terms, etc.
- Prepare proposals for the Chief of Innovation and Impact’s review and approval
- As a member of NEW’s Leadership Team, work closely with the CEO, CII and program directors to ensure development goals are integrated across departments, and that fundraising strategies reflect the organization’s operational and programmatic needs.
- Assist in the planning and execution of NEW’s 40th Anniversary celebrations, including, but not limited to, a series of curated engagement events and a high-impact anniversary gala to elevate the organization’s visibility, deepen funder relationships, and celebrate four decades of impact.
- Oversee all fundraising database systems and CRM tools, ensuring accurate record-keeping, data integrity, and insightful reporting to guide strategic decisions.
- Manage and ensure compliance with grant agreements, including deliverables, financial tracking, execution of recognitions and narrative reporting.
- Secure and manage external agencies, vendors, consultants and resources as needed
- Provide reporting on corporate development activity on a regular basis
- Represent NEW at internal and external events and meetings
- Demonstrate a commitment to NEW and adhere to NEW’s values and brand standards and policies when engaging with potential and existing partners, press and other media
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in business or related field preferred
- Minimum of seven years work experience managing business development, non-profit or corporate fundraising functions
- Direct experience and demonstrated success in fund development activities, corporate fundraising solicitation, sponsorship, management and cultivation of corporate commitments within a nonprofit organization
- Committed to and enthusiastic about the mission of NEW
- Adept at taking initiative, planning, prioritizing, organizing and following through
- Strong communicator-both oral and written-particularly with respect to proposal writing, delivering presentations and interacting with sponsors, foundations, corporate partners, government entities and supporters
- Understanding of sound communications, social media messaging, and branding with the ability to introduce fresh and innovative ideas
- Demonstrated experience and ability in thinking and executing creatively and strategically
- Strong entrepreneurial skills and ability to think creatively about revenue generating opportunities for nonprofits
- Committed and able to uphold high levels of accountability for self and others
Additional Requirements:
- Must have access to reliable transportation provide proof of current California driver’s license, acceptable driving record (current DMV H6 printout), and current liability auto insurance
- Fingerprinting and TB Clearance
- Flexible with working hours, including evenings and weekend

- Pay: $150,000 - $180,000/ Annually
