Summary
The applicant will take on the role of Policy Advisor for the Office of Science and Technology. This position is a Detail assignment and not a promotion. Candidates must currently hold the grade level specified in the announcement. Eligibility for this detail is restricted to current federal employees, applications from those who are not federal employees will not be accepted.

Open to all current competitive and excepted service federal employees at their current grade (GS12 or GS13 or equivalent level). Detail opportunity is non-reimbursable for 120 days or greater. Supervisory approval is required.

Duties
This is a Non-Reimbursable Detail Opportunity for 6 or greater months. If selected your management and branch must concur with the non-reimbursable detail. A MOU will be signed between your branch and the agency. RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL NOT BE PAID.
As an Policy Advisor, GS-0301-12/13 your responsibilities will include:
Developing and reviewing products that help advance OSTP's priorities for a specific portfolio area, such as policy papers, briefing memos, talking points, reports, summaries, and other written documents.
Engaging collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to gathering feedback, secure commitments, and advance OSTP's priorities for a specific portfolio area.
Working with OSTP and EOP teams and staff to build additional knowledge and capacity on policy issues for a specific portfolio area, as well as considerations across portfolios.
Advising in a clear, compelling, actionable manner to advance policy objectives and communicates opportunities, risks, and tradeoffs.
Adapting to shifting tasks and evolving priorities as needed.
