THE POSITION

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented professional to support the Governor’s Federal Affairs Representative in Washington, D.C. In this critical role, you will be at the forefront of policy review and advocacy, ensuring Pennsylvania’s priorities are advanced on the federal level. You will collaborate closely with the Federal Affairs Representative, advising staff on key policy issues and providing strategic recommendations for federal funding opportunities.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will:
  • Monitor and Track Policy: Conduct in-depth research and provide strategic recommendations on federal funding, budget allocations, and legislative reauthorizations.
  • Secure Resources: Identify, draft, and advocate for federal grants that directly benefit Pennsylvania’s communities.
  • Strengthen Connections: Build and maintain relationships with state cabinet agencies, Congressional staff, executive branch organizations, and federal agencies to ensure Pennsylvania’s priorities are heard.
  • Shape Legislation: Strategize advocacy efforts, draft letters of support, and collaborate with the Governor’s office on key federal initiatives.
  • Champion Pennsylvania: Track federal actions, engage with national governance associations, and facilitate high-level visits for administration officials.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. You will be expected to respond to requests/complete tasks outside of business days and hours, when needed.
  • This position is remote, with occasional in-person commitments, and headquartered in the Washington D.C. area.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Three years of federal relations or governmental experience which includes at least one year of work in legislative or policy analysis; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must have experience performing staff work on legislative initiatives, active legislation, and congressional correspondence, reports, hearings, congressional visits, and briefings.
  • You must have the ability to communicate effectively orally.
  • You must have the ability to communicate effectively in writing.
  • You must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • You must reside in or be willing to relocate to the area in or around Washington, D.C.
  • You must be willing to occasionally travel to various governmental offices/agencies across Pennsylvania.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation.
