Summary
The Smithsonian Institution is the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in the National Museum of African Art (NMAFA). The museum is a leading research and reference center for the visual arts of Africa.
Duties
The Public Affairs Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing communication activities across multiple platforms to reach and build new audiences.
In this position, you will:
Develop, implement, and evaluate a public affairs /communications strategy for the museum.
Create, prepare, assemble, and publish informational materials and other types of communication designed to reach worldwide audiences through electronic and print media.
Lead media relations for the museum, employing strategic outreach with existing and new media partners.
Conduct targeted outreach to print and broadcast media and respond to media inquiries.
Review new content and edits to conform to an institution or museum branding guidelines.
