Organization Overview
Commonwealth Communications (Comms2) serves as the communications and digital hub of Pennsylvania’s progressive, public interest, and pro-democracy community. Comms2 writes and produces content for progressive organizations, coordinates communications with partner and allied stakeholders, and monitors and develops strategies and tactics to best navigate the ever-changing digital and narrative landscape. Comms2 helps shape the political environment in Pennsylvania by centralizing institutional knowledge in a dynamic communications organization. The organization collaborates in filling the needs of partners’ priorities, coalitions, and campaigns throughout the commonwealth.
Job Description
The digital experience manager is a mid-level executive on our Digital Strategy team who oversees digital operations and the production of Pennsylvania-focused digital assets produced for Comms2 as well as partner organizations. This role will focus on project management and ensuring that digital priorities are carried out and executed on deadline.
The digital experience manager will oversee the development of creative videos, static graphics, gifs, social media post text, vote.pa content development and management, and other digital team priorities as well as the priorities of partner organizations. This role will work closely with the deputy director for digital strategy to manage day-to-day operations and with the digital partnerships manager to determine needs and produce complementary content from pre-production through post-production for ongoing advocacy, accountability, and electoral campaigns.
The digital experience manager will also work with the digital partnerships manager to collaborate with organizations of all sizes to address digital needs.
The digital experience manager will oversee the day-to-day functions of the digital content creator.
Responsibilities
- Develop digital and creative strategy.
- Manages projects from pre-production through post-production.
- Oversees day-to-day operations of the digital experience team.
- Manage digital team priorities and project timelines.
- Ensure vote.pa content is regularly updated and aligned with best practices in inclusive writing.
- Maintain Comms2 portfolio of social media platforms.
- Special projects and other tasks as assigned by the deputy director for digital strategy.
- Add digital capacity to a wide variety of progressive organizations and partners across the state to develop and execute digital campaigns.
- Support interdepartmental content requests for photo, video, graphic, and a range of digital needs.
- Provide support for content planning across digital assets.
- Advise on website, social media, and CRM data trends.
- Produce videos in collaboration with the digital content creator.
Qualifications
- Experience using the Adobe Suite, Canva, and PicMonkey to edit creative digital assets.
- Extensive knowledge of social media platforms
- Ability to write, edit, and proof-read quality written content
- Good editorial judgment
- Knowledge of best practices, including content delivery standards and usability
- Understanding of civic government and progressive politics in Pennsylvania
- Experience with Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, and other analytics tools
- Ability to work as a part of a team
- Basic understanding of HTML and WordPress
- Experience managing creative projects and providing actionable feedback on in-progress assets.
Experience
- 5-6 years of direct experience managing a small team and developing content for public-facing websites and social media platforms
- Commitment to working within diverse coalitions to achieve pragmatic goals.
- Working for progressive organizations in previous capacities, including but not limited to communications, digital, or web development.
Salary and Benefits
Salary is commensurate with experience. The range is between $65,000 - $75,000. Benefits include health care coverage, technology reimbursement, and paid time off.
Though this position is remote, candidates living in Pennsylvania are preferred, as expectations include:
- Meeting with their teammates in person a few times a year
- Traveling for instate and national events – expenses covered.
There is also the option to work from satellite offices in Harrisburg and Philadelphia.
