Communications Director

Brightline Defense is seeking an entrepreneurial Communications Director to advance our mission of shaping a more equitable and sustainable future. The Communications Director will convey the significance of our initiatives and campaigns, including renewable energy, green asset development (e.g., battery storage), and the implementation of local hiring policies that directly benefit environmental justice communities. The role encompasses various responsibilities, including building and leading a small and highly strategic communications team of staff and consultants, developing and executing comprehensive communication plans, fostering stakeholder connections, and ensuring the consistency of the recently refreshed Brightline brand. 

As a member of the leadership team reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications Director collaborates closely with other senior leaders to shape priorities and coordinate high-level decision-making across the organization in alignment with Brightline’s values and vision. We know that nonprofit communications staff often have limited resources and significant responsibilities. We have worked to right-size this role and prioritize the strategies and qualifications that will be most critical to fulfilling the goals of our new strategic plan.
