CodePath is a national non-profit that is reprogramming higher education to create the most diverse generation of software engineers, CTOs, and founders. We deliver industry-vetted courses and career support centered on the needs of Black, Latino/a, Indigenous, and low-income students. Our students train with senior engineers, intern at top companies, and rise together to become the tech leaders of tomorrow. As of 2023, we've served 10,000 students a year nationwide, and we plan to scale up to ~100,000 students a year by 2028.

Founded in 2017, CodePath has taught over 26,000 students and delivered courses across over 110 universities. We are supported by some of the largest and most well-respected organizations, including Amazon, Andreessen Horowitz, Blue Meridian Partners, Comcast, Google, JP Morgan Chase, Knight Foundation, Meta, New Profit, and Salesforce, among others. Job Summary

To support this growth and impact, we are embarking on a $200M philanthropic campaign. This is an opportunity to join a high performing Development team committed to securing the resources needed to actualize our ambitious vision of educating 100,000 computer science students annually in the next five years.


CodePath is seeking a Director, Campaign & Leadership Giving to collaborate with the Vice President of Development to launch and support the 5-year, $200M Campaign, and to build and lead the individual and leadership giving revenue stream. The ideal candidate is inspired by CodePath's ambitious vision to transform education starting with computer science, and to train engineers who will generate over $1.5T in wealth for low-income communities within the next 20 years. Additionally they bring experience with the philanthropic community in the tech, workforce development, and education space and have a track record of working with UHNWIs and HNWIs to secure major and principal gifts.


Our ideal candidate has raised 6- and 7-figure and multi-year commitments, and has worked in a philanthropic campaign environment. The 2024 fundraising target for this role is $5M, and this revenue stream is expected to scale to $9M over the next 5 years.

Responsibilities

Campaign Strategy

  • In collaboration with the CEO, VP of Development, Board, and Campaign task force, support the planning and implementation of a multifaceted campaign through the identification of capital campaign prospects, development of cultivation strategies and acquisition of major gifts to reach established campaign revenue goals to support the organization’s 5-year strategic plan
  • Partner with VP of Development to engage and support the CEO and board of directors in supporting the fundraising goals of the organization, including preparation of strategy and meeting briefings, prospect communications, research, collateral, and funding proposals
  • Work collaboratively with the Strategic Communications Director to drive the development of the Campaign's communications and collateral materials, including print, web and social media platforms

Individual Giving Revenue Growth and Development

  • Develop the overarching individual revenue growth strategy with focus on high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth donors and major gifts in alignment with our organizational fundraising goals, values and vision
  • Research and identify individual prospects, and develop and execute targeted cultivation plans and solicitation strategies, including meeting requests, meeting follow up and preparation of proposals
  • Develop, oversee and execute individual donor engagement strategies and tactics, including events, from pipeline development to cultivation, stewardship, solicitation and renewal
  • Manage the Individual Giving pipeline, identifying which prospects are in which stage, which prospects may need additional cultivation, and coordinating with other team members to execute those actions and close gifts to hit fundraising targets
  • Oversee relationships with key individual donors, families and family foundations providing catalytic support to the organization
  • Identify and recommend strategic touchpoints to capture prospects’ attention, including partnering with our Communications and Marketing team and PR firm as needed
  • Partner cross-departmentally to ensure that fundraising and donor engagement strategies are aligned with program activities and events

Department Leadership and Management

  • Collaborate with and provide thought partnership to Vice President of Development to review departmental systems and processes to ensure alignment with the organization's revenue goals, implementing new systems and practices that enable success and support future revenue growth
  • Build and manage a team to support individual revenue growth 

Qualifications

  • Passion and commitment to CodePath’s mission and vision
  • Minimum of 7 plus years’ work experience desired
  • Demonstrated experience having led, expanded, and developed fundraising strategy resulting in significant revenue growth for organizations
  • Track record of identifying, cultivating, and closing six- and seven-figure asks with a focus on individual and major gifts
  • Deep experience with how high-net worth donors, family offices and foundations can be influenced and stewarded
  • Results-driven, dynamic leader and strategic thinker with management and team building experience
  • Ability to succeed in a fast paced environment working with a wide variety of stakeholders, priorities, and ambitious and overlapping deadlines
  • Excellent team player with ability to work independently and in collaboration with colleagues at all levels across departments and external stakeholders
  • Superior attention to detail with high degree of initiative, organization, and a proven ability to meet and complete multiple tasks with solid deadlines with full follow-through
  • Strong, interpersonal, presentation and communication skills; ability to represent CodePath in a highly professional, engaging manner
  • Ability to analyze pipeline data to identify trends and patterns for revenue generation and resource allocation
  • High levels of emotional intelligence and relationship-building intuition
  • Solid working experience with CRM tools

Compensation

$120,000-$150,000 per year

Salary Range

$120,000 to $150,000
