Job Title: Senior Manager, Individual Giving

Compensation: Pay Grade 3 - $71,200 - $81,300 annually

Job Purpose: Under the supervision of the Director of Individual Giving, the Senior Manager, Individual Giving will strategize, plan, and execute all aspects of the Christensen Society (CS) program (donors at $2,500-$14,999 level), including 40+ stewardship events annually and mass communications, and identify and implement processes aimed at the CS’s constant improvement. The position also provides leadership for the Annual Fund quarterly campaigns, supervises the Annual Fund Coordinator who is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Friends program (donors at $1-$2,499 level), and assists the individual giving team with major donor prospecting. This position is responsible for the stewardship of a portfolio comprised of current donors giving between $2,500-$25,000, as well as prospects capable of making gifts of $15,000 or more. In coordination with the Annual Fund Coordinator, this position also provides regular analysis on individual giving results and areas of concern/opportunity.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Using sound fundraising principles, solicits via face-to-face, written, and digital methods, a blended portfolio of ~ 125 households, comprised mainly of current $2,500-$25,000 donors as well as prospects capable of making a Christensen Society- or higher-level gift. For current donors, deploy a strategic focus on in-person strategies to increase affinity, loyalty and level of donation. Uses fundraising software and other tools to monitor and track moves and results.
- Oversees day-to-day operations of the CS program, including but not limited to: industry-leading stewardship activities, benefits administration, stewardship events (in conjunction with Development Stewardship Coordinator), donor event calendar, and communication flow. Ensures optimal holistic donor experience by focusing on both in-person and virtual donor strategies. Routinely liaises with internal and external stakeholders including SF Ballet’s artistic team and outside vendors. In coordination with Director of Development Operations, provides regular qualitative and quantitative reporting and analysis to Chief Development Officer and Director, Individual Giving, highlighting areas of concern and growth opportunity.
- Under the supervision of the Director of Individual Giving, oversees the creation and execution of quarterly fundraising campaigns in accordance with the annual fund strategy and utilizing all SF Ballet platforms. Manages the Annual Fund Coordinator who implements and executes the campaigns and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Friends program.
- Support individual giving team with implementation of major gifts stewardship activities.

Years and Type of Related Experience Required: Three-five years of individual major gifts experience preferred.Love of performing arts required, dance knowledge preferred.
Professional/Technical Competencies:
- Develops and implements detailed fundraising plans, based on sound fundraising principles, for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors in order to meet fundraising goals for unrestricted gifts from individuals as well as other priority campaigns.
- Manages all aspects of giving from Christensen Society for both the annual fund and endowment campaign in coordination with Director of Development Operations. Prepares annual work plan with performance indicators.
- Successfully solicits individual major gifts of $2,500 or more.
- Develops detailed strategies for each gift solicitation and ensures that the progress of each strategy is documented.
- Represents the Ballet at all times with the highest degree of professionalism and communicates the Ballet’s position on sensitive issues without losing the donor’s goodwill. Staffing ballet performances and events.
- Arranges and attends meetings with donors and prospects, effectively briefing volunteers and others on the meeting strategies.
- Working with special events staff and Development staff, successfully plans and executes stewardship events including follow-up with event attendees.
- Maintains documentation, files and tracking of all major donor contacts, gifts, and stewardship activities in a manner that is accessible by others.
- Regularly strategize with Chief Development Officer, Annual Giving staff, and Events staff to identify and involve volunteer leadership in the cultivation and solicitation of donors.
- Maintains effective communication and rapport with others, both internally and externally, to track on progress and decisions.
- Utilizes and maintains up to date knowledge of work processing, spreadsheet, and presentation as well as fundraising software.
- Utilizes and maintains special knowledge to create and monitor accurate budgets and financial reports.
Physical Demands: Position requires periods of word-processing and database usage and also a flexible schedule to attend various donor-related events and meetings during the season. Ability to travel.
Special Equipment Used: Tessitura experience preferred but not necessary; PC and standard office equipment, such as fax and copier and Internet.
